Chapter 8

Kana was checking his updated schedules and all his upcoming surgeries were moved to his night shift. Great has also contacted him last night so they can see each other personally so he can give the information and as if he needs more confirmation Great gave him everything he dug with regards to Suppasit. They both said goodbye to their partnership but they made sure that their friendship will stay.

"Hey, Doc Kana." Doctor Phana greets him as the other entered the on-call room.

"Oh hey, Doc." Kana greets back unmoving from his sitting position in the study table they had. "I think I'll face another trial court. Gosh! These unreasonable filthy rich guardians make it looks like we had our license overnight." Doctor Phana said exasperatedly. Kana knew all too well about those types of patient's guardians and it's been an inside joke for doctors about being sued.

Kana stayed in the on-call room until the end of his break. He still has a long day and he has to find time in between to feed Suppasit. Today will be his last day on the dayshift after all.

"Oh, Doc the nurse already brought the papers for discharge in Mr. Jongchevevaat's room." Bow informed him as he was taking out the gauze inside the open incision.

"Oh, that's good to know," Kana said and steps aside. "You can wrap it up Doc Bow. Doc Tommy please inform me if there is any symptoms of rejection. Good job everyone. I hope we'll adjust well in our new schedule." He heard series of laugh and he went out of the OR taking off his bloody gloves and disposes it along with the disposable scrubs he was wearing.

He decided to just head straight to the locker room and change clothes. It was six in the evening and he needs to assist Suppasit back to where he was staying and to where he will have to stay for a month.

When he enters the V.I.P room that Suppasit was in he was dumbfounded to see an empty bed and a man who instantly stood up when he had shut the door. Who is he? A lover? But I should not conclude Mew's gender in this lifetime so maybe a friend?

"Good evening. I'm Doctor Kanawut Traipipattanpong. I'm Suppasit's doctor." Kana introduce himself as he was not wearing his white coat.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Doc." The man said and went to him to offer his hand for a handshake which Kana accepted right away. "I'm Suppasit's bestfriend, Tong Thanayut. I delivered his new clothes as he requested. He's now in the bathroom changing." Tong informs in which Kana nodded.

"I never knew someone can really put a lease on that brat and a Doctor at profession at that," Tong said chuckling. This intrigues Kana and so he asked Tong what he meant then Tong just gave him the same reason as Mrs. Jongchevevaat.

The bathroom doorknob is twisted and Suppasit emerges with a casual outfit. "Finally! You took so long man! I have to go ahead or I'll miss dinner with my son." Tong said and stood up from the couch where he and Kana settle after the introduction.

"You could have seen yourself out you know," Suppasit said a matter of fact. To which just earns a laugh from Tong then he turns in Kana's direction and politely said: "I'll see you around Doc." Kana just uttered a simple "See you."

Now that Tong was out he stood from the couch and went to where Suppasit was standing "You've done with the discharge paper right?" Kana asks.

"Yeah an hour ago." Suppasit replies. Kana looked him up and down and said "I think you're well enough not to be wheeled out of the hospital."

"Oh come on! There will be stairs!" Suppasit argues. Kana just laugh shaking his head "Yeah sure. Just wait here." But he still complies and went out to get the wheelchair.

They were in Kana's car and Suppasit just punches in the direction of his penthouse in Kana's GPS.

"We have to stop for a drive-thru because I can't cook," Kana informs.

"I know," Suppasit said which caught Kana off guard. "What do you mean?" He interrogated.

"I mean it's given with your line of work that you don't cook or you don't often cook. So I kinda know." Suppasit elaborated to which earns a nod from Kana. "I can cook tho," Suppasit added.

"Really? Since when?" Kana asked with a teasing tone. Shit! I made it sound like I knew him before he becomes my patient! I'm just gonna fake it till I make it. I have to always remind myself that this is not like the old times anymore.

"Hey! You're making it seems like it's a miracle I can cook!" Suppasit interjected pouting a little and Kana just laugh it off as he continued "But I have to learn to cook because I travel a lot and I'm not really fond of eating alone in restaurants and sometimes I just don't trust the country's cuisine so I had to learn. Don't worry, I can guarantee that it's edible."

Kana turned to a corner to enter a Chinese food drive-thru. "I'll have one serve fried rice top with steamed pork dumplings. That's all." Kana said to the crew. He could feel Suppasit leers at him and so he faced him and said "I've seen in the GPS that there's a Japanese drive-thru near your penthouse." He told him. Suppasit raises one eyebrow then his eyes flash realization and it flicks to shock "H-how did you know I like Japanese food?"

Shit! I can't say that I guessed right? I sound so sure. The heck! What happens to reminding myself that it's not like the last time? Without delivering his thought he said the first excuse that he had in mind. "Tong!" He almost shouted, "I mean Tong mentioned awhile ago that you're probably will end your home admission with ordering a lot of Japanese foods." It was a lie though, Tong only mentions him ordering a lot of Japanese comics not foods and he just hopes Suppasit wouldn't see through him. He knew he can get away with it somehow by mishearing Tong if Suppasit would ask his bestfriend. I should really stop acting like I knew him since forever.

"Oh, I see." Was Suppasit's reply sounding resigned. Slumping his back on the passenger's seat with brows knitted together. Kana doesn't know why he was honed with such an expression. Did he see through me? His order was given to him and he paid via his credit card. Their car ride was quiet, the kind of quiet that makes you shift in your seat and feel sweaty at the same time. Kana's eyes were too focused on the road but his mind is elsewhere, so when a streetlight turns red he almost misses the stop.

"Shit!" He exclaims while his head was pushed forward to the stirring wheel. The sound of horns from the other vehicle he almost collided with blares to his ear. Then he remembers he's not alone. He frantically looks to the side of Suppasit and he thanks the seatbelts for doing its purpose but he realizes that the latter had just undergone surgery.

"Oh my gosh! Fuck! I'm sorry! I'm so sorry. Are you okay? Does it hurt? Do you we need to return to the hospital?" He asks question after question forgetting that he was the man's physician.

"H-hey." Suppasit who regained his composure reaches a hand to his cheek wiping a stray tear that Kana did not seem to feel. "I'm okay. You're okay. Relax. Okay?" Suppasit said reassuringly and soothingly. "Do you want me to drive the short mile?" Kana, on the other hand, took deep breathes, and when he feels stable enough he answered "You can't drive for a month. I'm still so sorry though." He reaches for the lever to change gears as the lights move to green.

"Makeup to me by buying me dinner," Suppasit said blandly and when Kana stole a quick glance he sees the other was back to being all smiley.
