Act 1 - Butterfly's Dream
Deerpaw raced into the bushes, the leaves around her raked up with a flick of her long tail. A large orange shadow trailed behind her with speed.
She quickly swerved around to face her opponent, her eyes blazing with energy. She pounced, but suddenly ducked down as the cat raised their paws out to them, and slid under them, before halting in front of the cat, she was breathing heavily and her fur stuck out.
"Wow, that was great Deerpaw!" The deep voice cheered at her. Great pride filled her from head to tail, and a large purr escaped her mew.
"Thanks Gingersplash! I really needed the training, I haven't trained properly ever since we left." Sadness entered her gaze as she thought of home and her real mentor Otterpelt, who must have missed training her...
What if she's replaced me and got a new apprentice?
She thought frantically, before Gingersplash rested his tail on her shoulder.
He gave her a small smile, "Well I'm glad you enjoy training with me, I haven't had an apprentice for some time... anyway I've got to get back to camp before the dawn patrol leaves, I'll see you around!" And with that Gingersplash leapt into the bushes and back to CreekClan camp.
Deerpaw sat down next to a nearby stream and sat on the cold rocks as she cleaned her ruffled pelt. Her ears pricked when she heard pawsteps of a cat coming her way, she turned her head to see the smiling face of Ratpaw, she purred.
"Hey, was I interrupting anything?" He chuckled, she nodded and made room for him to say next to her, his white fur intertwined with hers, and his stumpy tail twitched.
"How did you sleep?" She spoke softly to him.
"It was fine, still homesick though... I hope Willowstar will agree to come with us soon." He said longingly, looking up at the sky.
She wrapped her tail around him and they both touched and cuddled up to one another until sunhigh.
The camp was stirring as the clan was preparing for the snow storm that EclipseClan told the medicine cats about. The wind was picking up, and small specks of snow were falling onto Mousepaw's flank, making him shiver in the cold.
He was sat near the edge of the clearing, looking blankly at the cats running around the camp, in and out of the entrance. He sighed in annoyance as Sunpaw walked over to him.
"Hey fur ball! How about you actually do something instead of moping around all day!? Sobbing won't bring your brother back!" He teased harshly at Mousepaw.
Mousepaw fur spiked and his eyes flared with anger, "Don't tell me what to do! YOU'RE as much use as crowfood!" He spat back.
"And don't you dare bring up Ratpaw!" He threatened, flexing his claws at the white and ginger cat, before he stormed off towards the crown of cats.
"Stupid Sunpaw... stupid clan... stupid." He murmured to himself before Lightpaw trotted up to him, noticing his anger. Her warmth brushed up agains his side, making him feel less tense.
"Hey, I'm about to go hunting,, you can come with me to let off some steam?" Her voice softer than silk. He couldn't argue with Lightpaw, if he would have refused she would've dragged him all the way to the forest.
"Ok... thanks." He gave the smallest smile to her, before they both head off into the forest.
