Another Dimension

Chapter 10-Campfire

After that heated discussion, Derek decided that he will make a formal announcement to the whole camp on that very evening itself.

At night, before we went to sleep into our respective cabins, everyone gathered into a large fireplace that was situated at the heart of the camp. The fire made me feel during this chilly night like the sun made me feel warm during the chilly morning.

I sat next to Carol along with Lucas, Gabriel, and Elijah. Elijah looked exhausted because of the whole day in the health base. His eyes had bags and his hair had another story to tell.

Then Derek with his 'spy' came at the center of the campfire. Both were feeling were very silent and motionless which made all the members of the camp start the silent murmurs.

Then Derek looked at me. He gave me a sympathetic look in his eyes. I looked at him straight into his eyes and give him a silent nod.

Then Derek cleared his throats and got everyone's attention. No one spoke. No murmurs but dead silence.

He then said, "What I am about to say will sound very surprising or shocking to everyone here. Before I start saying it, I would like to apologize for not saying this for too long." Derek paused and bowed his head down.

Everyone was surprised by what he was saying. Then the volume of the murmur's started rising a bit.

Then he resumed, "I know that most of you would be wondering as to why you all get those swords or fighting training or making these materials. And you also know the reason for it. But that was not the real reason." When he said that everyone started looking at the people next to each other and started asking what the reason was for learning these skills.

Carol looked at me and raised her right eyebrow a little high as to ask me what he was talking about. Because she knew that I went to Derek in the evening. I didn't reply and kept silent.

This isn't my duty to acknowledge what was happening in the camp. Even if I did, no one is going to believe me because I came here just this morning.

Someone from the camp got up and asked, "Then why?" The guy looked short and had long curly hair. He looked dead serious when he asked that question. Derek cleared his throat again and replied, "Well you see within a couple of months you will be fighting against monsters who come from another dimension."

Everyone gasped.

Carol's eyes were wide open. Elijah who would have almost slept during this announcement was wide awake when he heard the word monster.

And I was the only one who wasn't much surprised as everyone and resumed being silent.

Then Carol got up and asked, "What do you mean by another dimension? Is there another dimension from the two dimensions we know?" Derek responded, "As per my knowledge and being her for such a long time. There are about three dimensions in this universe. The one which we originally come from, the one we are in, and the one's where mythical creatures and monsters live."

No one spoke or got up, so Derek resumed, "So, because of this I want each and every member to train hard." Then he pointed towards the 'spy'. "Robert here will be giving you thorough training. And soon we will be having the final relay match at the end of this month."

Everyone returned to their cabin.

That night I was not able to sleep at all. My eyes were open as I was lying on the bed. My thoughts were full of those monsters that we will be attacking very soon. I am nervous and afraid. I don't want to lose the life of the people living here. Who knows maybe at the end some miracle would happen, right?

Then I got up and sat on the bed. I turned my head towards the window and saw the night wolves guarding the camp. They roamed around the full perimeter of the camp the whole night.

I slowly started feeling sleepy and decided to lie on my bed and ended up sleeping peacefully.
