subject : the smile on your face
Do you know what was the highlight of today's basketball match? No, it wasn't winning the game. It wasn't making the winning score either. And neither was it the big kiss that Allison planted on my lips right after we won the game.
It was the way your face lit up with that brilliant smile as you jumped up and shouted in joy when I was being hugged by my teammates.
"Congratulations," You had muttered shortly after, coming up to me. Your hair was done in a sleek, straight ponytail, and I wondered if I'd ever get the chance again to play with a strand of your hair. I wanted to say so much but all the words dried up at the tip of my tongue. This was the first word you had said to me in five months.
"Thanks," I had replied. You had been unfazed by the slight wavering in my voice, smiling brilliantly and moving on to congratulate my teammates. That had hurt. Had I really become a mere stranger to you?
"I don't like that girl," Allison had said to me.
I had simply smiled. "I don't like her, either."
