Bethane's POV:

Two and a half years later:

"And then he sighed at me," I say in disbelief. "Do you understand how disrespectful that is?"

Rider gasps. "He sighed at you?" he matches my tone, only more dramatic and sarcastic. "Well, sweetheart, we're going to have to file a report against him immediately because if he sighed at you...." He shakes his head in disapproval.

I glare at him, making him laugh at me.

"Rider, he's my boss," I whine as I'm being driven home by him.

"You can't take everything everyone does to heart," he tries to reason with me but I'm too bent on this.

He smiles as he looks over at me like some lovesick puppy, and I hate to admit that I love how it looks on him. His eyes are softened, and his grin lights up my entire horrible day.

God, I love him.

"We have to stop by Roman's place. I'll be right back," he tells me and I nod.

Rider's POV:

I make a beat as I knock on Roman's door a little loudly. Okay, a lot loudly. Although he answers it in seconds. It worked!

He also shuts it in my face in seconds though.

Never mind then.

I quickly put my hand out to stop it and walk behind him into his apartment.

"What the fuck do you want?" he asks as he goes over to Alaiya and wraps his hand around her waist as she seems to be baking something.

I was right about them getting back together in a matter of days. Roman's whipped ass couldn't survive that long without her, and for some reason, Alaiya felt the same way. But that's another story.

I pull out the box, getting this over with because I just want to ask Beth already.

Alaiya's eyes instantly go wide as her hands slap over her mouth, and I think I saw some shock on Roman's face too.

Shocking, I know. Roman showing emotions. Not the ring.

"I need your blessing," I add.

I already got her father's and mother's approval. They're still split up but talking. It's mostly her dad making up for his wrongdoings. Though, both of them found a middle ground for this question when they said yes.

Oddly, her dad has been pretty friendly with me and hasn't been glaring as much. He actually patted me on the back.

I felt like a proud father. Wait, wrong analogy.

Roman chokes on a laugh. "You want my blessing to come into my family?" he asks hysterically.

I glare at him.

"Hell no." He shakes his head.

"Come on, we could be finally related!"

"That's the fucking problem." Roman nods at me.

"Alaiya," I complain childishly.
