Chapter 17

"True love is selfless. It is always prepared to sacrifice."

Author's POV

When Hyunjae reached his family's mansion he carelessy parked the car at the front and got down. He barged inside the house, not gretting the guards or others like he usually did. "Dad. Where are you? Mom?" He called out feeling angry as he stood in the middle of the room looking up the stairs. A few seconds passed and he sees his parents along with his two brothers show up. His mother looking worried.

Hyunjae wondered if she knew what his father had been doing to Chanhee. "Welcome home son." Junsu said as he walks down the stairs. "I am not staying and I wish I wasn't your son." Hyunjae spat out. "Did that boy left you?" Junsu asked smugly thinking Chanhee probably went away. Mina looks at his husband confused. "What are you guys talking about?" She asked worriedly.

"Oh wouldn't you like to know mom. What the man who calls himself my father had been doing?" Hyunjae says with a scoff. He turns to Junsu and glares at him. "And for your information father he hasn't left. Because unlike he loves and treasure me." He stated. Junsu scoffs. "Where did I went wrong you! Why are you so stubborn? I just wanted what's best for you! And that man who you call your love is not going to bring any happiness and benefits to our family." Junsu seethed in anger.

Hyunjae's face turns blank. No expression at all. Juyeon looks at his father and back to his brother wondering what was happening. Same goes for Sangyeon. They were still lost and confused. "How would you even know happiness dad? You never treated me like a human. You always treated me like some prize to show off to others. All you cared for was money, status and business. Have you ever asked me what I wanted? Ever asked me what I wanted to pursue in my life?" Hyunjae questioned.

Without letting his father speak he continues. "You have never even put your hand on my head and told me I did well. When I became 1st in my class you told me to do better. When I did everything to impress you, you never told me that I did great. I hated studying father. I hated those classes you put me on. I hated everything. I wanted to enjoy my life like people my age. I wanted to be normal." Hyunjae says as tears appears in his life.

"I didn't have a happy memory with you dad. I was a puppet to you. You controlled me. You forced me to do things I never wanted to. And when I met Chanhee I was finally happy. Unlike you he saw the faults in me and still showed me love. He embraced me. Not for money. Not for my status. But for me as human. As Hyunjae. And you... You try to take away even that happiness." Hyunjae says.

"I don't even want to call you my father. Because I don't feel like you ever treated me like a son. All I was to you is a puppet you wanted to use for your own happiness and desires. You wanted Chanhee to leave me right. You told him that you will disown me from this house, family and business if he didn't left me." Hyunjae says as he laughs blankly.

Mina looks at his husband with wide eyes. She never thought his husband would do something like this and think of disowning his own son. Juyeon and Sangyeon were shocked too. "You don't need to disown me anymore Mr Lee. I will leave this family myself." Hyunjae says. "Hyunnie..." His mother calls surprised at his words. Hyunjae looks at his mother with sadness. "I love you mom but I can't live without Chanhee." He says.

Mina looks at him sadly but smiles. She approaches him and pulls him in a hug. "I am so glad that you have your happiness now Hyunnie. I am sorry that I couldn't do anything as your mother." She says. Hyunjae  shakes his head. "No mom you did everything you could. And I am always grateful for that." He says with a small smiles. He pulls away from his mother. "I will go now mom." He says. Mina nods at him. Hyunjae gives his two brother another small smile and he turns around leaving the mansion.

Mina turns to her husband with a glare. Tears pricking her eyes. She had to let go of his own son because of the man she called her husband. "You disgust me Junsu. You went too far with this. I didn't you would stoop this low." She said as she walks away emotionally drained thinking about his second son who had walked away from the family. She was a mother and as much as she supported Hyunjae in fighting for his lover it also hurted her to send her away this way.

Juyeon quickly aids his mother. Walking beside her as he leads her to her room. Sangyeon looks at the back of his father with sad eyes and then at the way his mother had walked away sighing. He really wished his father could maybe become more understanding and see beyond his business and money. All he could do was hope for it.

Meanwhile~

Hyunjae drives his way back home. Tears still fell as he drives away from the mansion. As bad as his father was he was still family and it hurted to walk away from them. He reach his home in no time. He walked inside and saw Chanhee pacing around, worry evident on his face. The younger turns to look at him when he noticed his presence.

"Hyung!" Chanhee almost shouts as he ushers towards Hyunjae hugging him and it was enough to send Hyunjae breaking down with tears. Words like "It hurts" "I left them" "I made mom sad" coming out in between sobs. And at that moment all Chanhee could do was hug the older and comfort him. He felt guilty and felt like he was the reason Hyunjae became so sad. If he wasn't there Hyunjae would have been with his family. "Shh don't cry hyung. I hate seeing you cry because it break me too." He says patting the older's back, tears pricking his eyes.
