Danny’s PoV
Stepping out the shower I wrapped a towel around my waist. Showering was the one thing guaranteed to make me feel better and I still felt like crap! Deeply sighing I rub my hair before wandering back through the deserted hallway to my guest room. Getting drunk regularly and having friends that worry like two half-crazed old biddies, means that at both Glen and Mark’s houses I have sets of clothing. This can come in very useful at times; i.e. today. I step into the walk in wardrobe and find a grey top and jeans. Not that that was hard, I have many. Quickly I dress and silently tip toe down the stairs after finding a suitable jacket and beanie. It’s still pretty earlier so I’m praying no one’s up because I know they will stop me from visiting Rori. But that’s so not going too happened. I promised her I’d see her today and I am a man of my word!...Most of the time...
As I reach the kitchen I pick up the land rover keys from the key rack vowing to myself I will bring it back as soon as I’m finished. I’ll deal with the consciences later, now I have more important responsibilities. Cautiously I turn the door knob only to find it locked. God dam it. I start to search for the keys on the rack. No such luck. I let out a quiet growl of frustration. Suddenly the realisation hits me, they’re on the key ring for the land rover. The key ring that is in my hand right now. Way to go Sherlock! Hurriedly I insert the key into the lock and turn it then try the knob again. Still no luck. For god’s sake! I am being to think kicking the bloody thing in may be a better solution...Calm down! Fine I will. Now I’m talking to myself, how wonderful. Danny shut up and get to the job in hand. “Yes sir!” I mutter to myself while saluting to thin air. Oh dear god what is wrong with me...
Once again I insert the key in the lock, this time I turn the key the other way and praise the lord! It opened! Rushing, I headed towards the garage where my one way ticket to Rori would be waiting. I jog my way through the old fashioned courtyard and open the garage door. I dash in and-Oh fuck...
Casually leaning against the land rover, a smug smile gracing his lip was Glen. Bastard. Well that’s my plan ruined...Hoping that he’ll let it go I turn round and walk back towards the house feeling defeated.
“Going somewhere?” He says trying hard not to chuckle. Of course he couldn’t let it go. Dick. I pivot round on my left foot and face him with a less than wholesome expression on my face. Seriously, if you saw my face then you’d lock your children up, wrap them in bubble-wrap and send them to a councillor to stop even thoughts of my face scare them. OK, bit farfetched but when you’ve only had two hours sleep and now your so called friend is blocking your way to the girl you may be falling for, then you’re gonna be a tiny bit delusional!
“I don’t know what you mean.” I mutter trying to sound nonchalant but my voice betrays as it sounds strained and annoyed. Dam you vocal cords, dam you.
“Uh huh, whatever you say...” He trails off, chuckling as he does so. I just scowl at him and pivot back round heading back towards the house. I hear him shouting my name but just ignore him, he doesn’t deserve my attention.
“So obviously you don’t want me to take you to the hospital then...” He hollers at me. I stop so suddenly I almost topple head first to meet the concrete. Dam my clown feet! After regaining my balance I turn to face my friend opening and closing my mouth like a manic goldfish. Did he really say that? I cock my head to the side, a silent question to him, as I know I’ve lost the ability to create a sentence. Smiling like a pig in muck he nods. Well if pigs could smile...See what I mean about my tired brain?
At that moment I honestly didn’t know how to act so surprising both of us I threw myself at him and engulfed him in a bear hug. Then things became really creepy as I started to weep onto his shoulder...When did I turn into such a teenage girl? I mean I used to be one but-Did I honestly just think that?! Oh dear god, I need to sleep...
