Danny’s PoV
“So you were saying...” I said to the pretty little girl sitting on the sofa next to me. She couldn’t be more than sixteen but gave off a presence of a much older more independent person than someone of her age. I think the correct phrase is; she showed wisdom beyond her years.
Rori swallowed deeply and pulled the tartan blanket tighter around her slim body. I could tell that she was ashamed of whatever happened to lead to this moment in time. I wasn’t, I think fate brought us together. Oh god! Someone pass me a brandy! I need alcohol! You see Danny’s remedy for sentimental thoughts is a nice stiff drink. Preferably a strong Irish whiskey, but hey! I’m not picky!
“Like I said, it’s a long story. But I shall tell you the basics.” She took a deep breath before starting, “A month ago my friend, Abby, told me that you were going to be performing here tonight. I just had to come. I couldn’t miss this for the world. No matter what I was coming...” She drifted off obviously deep in thought. Absently she starts to fiddle with her hair. Not in a flirty way, it’s more like a comfort thing.
I take this time to take her in. She has longish black hair that falls down past her shoulders in soft waves. It would probably look better if it was not matted to the side of her head by the wind and rain. None the less it looks amazing. Her skin is the colour of fragile porcelain; it looks so delicate. I’m scared that if I touch her she will break into a million little pieces before my eyes. Her lips are small but plump. Just the way I like them. But of all her features it’s her eyes that catch my attention.
Rori’s eyes will forever be imprinted on my brain. They are a shiny golden brown, like leaves just getting ready to turn. They’re beautiful. Insanely beautiful. Her whole look reminds me of the Twilight Vampires, I think they are called the Cullen’s. Not sure though, the whole thing passed me by. I’m definitely a Harry Potter guy myself.
She reminds me so much of someone from my past but I can’t remember who. This thought starts to bug me, who is it?
I realise I’m staring at the poor girl far too intently so sit back and relax a bit. I watch her pretty features crease up ever so slightly, evidently deep in thought. She bites her lip still playing with her hair. Saying I’m mesmerised by her would be an understatement.
I’m so captivate by her stunning looks that it takes me a while to notice she has started speaking again.
“...So after I had saved up the money I managed to get a ticket. It was a lot of hard work babysitting my neighbour’s brats, walking their demon dogs, house sitting when they were away, car washing. You name it I did it. But it was worth it to be here. It was worth it to see my idols perform.” She smiles shyly at me before continuing; “So I carried on with my life until a couple of days ago when Abbs reminded me about it. So operation get here without anyone missing me was underway.”
“Hold up!” I cut in, “No one knows you’re here!” I practically screeched that whilst jumping to my feet. I stared down at her and before I could think I spat at her. I just spat at a fan! I didn’t mean to I was just so shocked and amazed that she could be so stupid.
Rori looks to the ground, ashamed and embarrassed. I think she’s going to cry. I don’t want her to cry. I don’t want anyone to cry because of me. I’ve broken too many hearts already on my short stay on this planet. She came all this way to see me and the lads. It’s in this moment looking down at her shaking body I realise she’s been through a hell of a lot in her life so far.
“I’m sorry honey. It’s just, it’s just your so young to have come all this way on your own not telling anyone. How old are you?” I say sitting back on the couch. I’m careful to remain a safe distance from her not wanting to smother her when she’s in such a fragile state.
