Chapter 11- Rori’s PoV
“Is there anything else I can do for you Miss Lane?” The young doctor says smiling down at me.
I shake my head smiling back at the attractive young man. “Nope.” I say popping the p.
“Sure? No one I can call?” He says frowning slightly, probably thinking I’d like to talk to my dad. He couldn’t be more wrong. I go to shake my head again when I suddenly have an idea.
“Eh, yes actually. Can I call a friend?” I query politely.
“Yes of course you can.” He said smiling. “But are you sure you don’t want me to call your dad?”
I shake my head again, with a sad smiling on my face.
“OK then. I’ll get the nurse to bring a phone to you soon.” He said smiling once again as he turned to walk out. I relaxed back into the pillows once more snuggling under the comfy duvet. Just as he was about to walk out he turned back to me. “I almost forgot, there are to people here to see you. Can I let them in?” Straight away I knew Danny was one of these people but I was unsure as to who the other may be.
“Yeah that’s fine” I say still raking through my mind trying to guess who the mystery person was. The doctor smiled once more and left.
It could Mark or Glen? Or one of the stage crew...or, or I dunno. Who could it be? Being impatient is one of my many flaws, being patient is far too over rated! I like things to happen at my speed and my way. It’s my way or the high, go against me and God save ya. Ya? Where the hell did that come from? Oh I do worry myself...
The door to my room opens with a click and I automatically look up at the people entering. What the-!
My blood runs cold turning to ice in my veins, I stiffen like a statue glaring at it. Glaring at her. If looks could kill I would of made sure she was lying on the floor motionless and blue by now! Then I notice it, the thing that makes me want to cry like a child. Her hand is intertwined with his...
“Leave.” I say looking directly at Amy. “Now.”
Danny looks at me and then at Amy and back again. “Rori-..” He starts.
“No Danny. I want her out. Don’t ask why, she knows.” I interrupt him, looking at Amy the whole time. She squirms uncomfortably under my intense glare, looking an intimidated like a small child being told off.
“Dan, I better go; she doesn’t want me here.” She tells him dropping his hand. He goes to protest but she stands her ground. “No Danny, I have to respect her wishes. I’ll be in the waiting room.” She kissed his cheek gently before reluctantly but swiftly leaving. Danny stares at the empty space on the floor next to him for awhile before sheepishly walking forward and sitting on the hard leather armchair next to my bed.
He looks at me for a while with his big blue eyes. I feel uncomfortable under his gaze and cast my own eyes down the tell tale signs of a blush showing on my cheeks. We sit in silence for awhile, neither of us having balls enough to speak. Out of the corner of my eye I see him stretch his arm slowly towards me. I copy this movement until our hands are touching. I intertwine my fingers through his longer ones and smile up at him from beneath my lashes.
“I’m sorry!” We say at exactly the same time, making each other laugh. His laugh is a soft, deep chuckle. Kinda cute if I’m honest.
“Danny, you have nothing to be sorry for!” I say in all seriousness, this was my mess.
“Yes I do! I told the whole audience about you! I yelled at Amy for no particular reason then I over pressured you and now you’re in hospital it’s my entire fault!” He cried out, his head collapsing onto the bed.
I reached out with my other hand and gently stroked his head. “Don’t be silly, I was the one who snuck away from home to come here. I was the one who’s ticket got stolen. I was the one who over reacted about what Amy said_...”
“What did Amy say?” He asked a dark expression crossing his face. Oh shit...
“N-nothing!” I started just as the nurse, Crystal, walked in with the phone. She smiled at us before handing me the phone and giving me the directions of use. It took a while to get a hang of but I got there, like I said I can do anything I set my mind to. Crystal made sure I was fine and then left again.
“Rori.” Danny said, the serious look returning to his face. I sighed and huffed but told him what happened anyway. His face went a nasty colour of purple as his anger and emotions built up....oh dear glob!
“If I’d known...” He started his a voice tense and tired squeak.
“But you didn’t!” I said holding onto his hand with both of mine. “It’s over now, don’t worry about it Ok?”
“But, but she had no right!” He stammered, “I would never do that to you Rori! Never!” His eyes pleaded with me to believe him and I did, I truly did.
“I know, Danny, I know.” I whisper to him. “You should go home, get some rest. You can come and see me tomorrow ok? I’m not getting out till the afternoon so you can have a nice lie in.”
He looked conflicted, like he wanted to argue with me. “Fine” He grumbled. He stood and kissed my forehead. “Sleep tight sweetie.” And with that he left.
I smiled a sleepy smile to myself before reaching out for the phone on my bed side table. I dialled the familiar number and waited for the phone to finish ringing.
“Hello? Hey Abbs it’s me.”
