Chapter 10: Chores

"Oh, hey y/n." Eren gave you a small wave then continued to browse the alcohol he was standing infront of. Levi looked at you, eyes narrowing. "You two already know eachother?" "Yeah—" you started as Eren interrupted you. "Yeah I made her a drink the other night when she came in." Eren said as he picked up a couple of bottles and held them in his arms. "Uh, yeah." You softly said as you looked down at your feet. Levi's eyes lingered on you, before finally pulling away and back at Eren. Eren began walking past the both of you. "I'll be at work tonight Captain, see you later." He didn't even say goodbye to you, let alone look at you. Levi didn't respond, but instead glanced at you attempting to study your face. "Are you friends with Yeager?" You looked back up at Levi. His eyes piercing through yours. You let out a soft sigh, trying not to let Levi hear. "I guess I don't really know him well enough, so no." Levi nodded his head. "The vodka is back here." He pointed forward, changing the subject as you both continued to walk to the section in the store you needed. Levi grabbed several bottles of different brands and loaded them into the cart. You watched his muscles flex as he picked up each big bottle and lowered it into the cart.

"This should do it." Levi placed the last bottle into the cart. "Let's go check out." You continued to push the cart as you headed to the front of the store. The register beeps rang through the store of the dozens of liquor bottles Levi was buying. Levi finished paying and began to lead the way out the door. You followed his lead, pushing the cart full of liquor slowly behind him towards his mustang. Levi popped the trunk and the two of you began to unload the cases of liquor neatly into his trunk. After placing them all tightly together Levi closed the trunk door while you brought the cart back to the store. You briskly walked to the car, noticing Levi was still standing outside his car. "Is there something wrong?" Your eyebrows scrunched together curiously. "No, there's another errand I would like to go do, and it's not too far from here. I figured we could walk there." He said as he turned mid sentence and headed down the sidewalk. You picked up your pace to catch back up with him. He began slowing down as the two of you approached a small boutique. Levi held the door open for you as you nodded your head to him as a "thank you". "What are we looking for, exactly?" You asked as you glanced through the racks of women's clothing on the right side of the entrance. "I need a couple articles of clothing for myself and some decor that can maybe go in the bar. I haven't decided yet but I wanted to stop here while I'm already out. I don't really need your opinion or help so you can just wonder around until I'm done." Levi finished as he turned around toward the men's section. You shrugged your shoulders and continued to linger through each section, just browsing the clothes. The clothing was very nice and extremely expensive. A flowy top caught your eye on a rack closer to the cash register. You picked up your size and held it in front of the mirror, attempting to picture yourself in it. "Aw this is cute." You sighed to yourself. You eventually made it through the entire women's section and grew bored now that you didn't have anything new to look at. You searched the store for Levi who was still in the men's section, but holding a couple items for checkout. You sauntered over to Levi, attempting to nonchalantly hurry him up. He continued to comb through the pants as he said, "I don't like being rushed. If you're done looking just take these and wait in the car." He said, tossing the keys behind himself for you to catch. You were caught off guard, but caught them. "Alright, I'll be in the car. If you need me to come back to help carry anything just call." You yelled as you walked out the front door, Levi threw a hand up, waving you away.

You made your way back to the car, the walk was just a quick 5 minutes. You cranked the heater in his car, hoping it would start to warm up quickly. Each day that passes by gets colder and colder. Twenty minutes past by and you finally see Levi in the distance walking back with two large bags. You unlocked the doors and popped the trunk for him. Levi sat the bags ontop of the liquor to give them cushion so they wouldn't clank together. He shut the trunk and hopped back into the drivers seat and turned down the heater. "Are you freezing? It's hot as hell in here." He complained. "Sorry...." You shrugged. Levi pulled out his phone and checked some messages. You studied his face, waiting to hear what tasks were needing to be accomplished next. "Y/n. I've noticed you're wearing the same outfit as yesterday." Levi stated coldly. You feel your face heat up, looking down at your feet. "Yeah, I'm sorry. All my other clothes are dirty and I haven't had time yet to run by a laundry mat." You trailed off, hoping he would change the subject. "I need to run to my house to pick up some excess liquor I have there that can be brought to the bar. I like to make sure all tasks are accomplished, and I know this job can be demanding while working on my time. Did you want to run and get your laundry and do it at my place while I grab some things? That way you have clean clothing to wear to my bar. That frees up more time you can be doing your job and not worried about laundry. I have to go anyway so it's not like I'm going out of my way." He stated plainly. Your eyes were wide, speechless from the offer. "I—I mean" you stuttered. Levi began to pull the car out of the parking lot. "Your car in the same place it usually is?" You nodded. "Okay. We are going to get all of our chores done today. It'll make us more productive if we get all of the busywork out of the way." He said as he continued looking forward at the road. Your eyes studied your feet, scared that if you moved them away you would begin to cry from the small gesture of kindness from your boss. Although the reasoning was for the benefit of the bar, you will take whatever you can get.
