"Guys!" Miller said, looking at his phone, seeing a notification pop up. He read off of the article as if he were a weatherman on TV, he projected, "Alert! A level 2 weathering warning has been issued for the city of Seattle and surrounding areas in the state of Washington. Prepare your homes for winds of up to 97mph and torrential rain lasting up to 52 hours and totalling around 255 millilitres per day. A potential risk of flooding may also bring danger to coastal buildings and wildlife. Starting at 21:30, the first expected rainfall, nobody is to leave their homes, the exceptions being: first responders, essential shopping and safety measures to protect a building further." He finished reading the article and slouched backwards glumly into the chair he stood from. Warren checked the time on his watch and sighed, shutting his eyes and opening them very slowly.
"Well then Montgomery, we've got a few hours. It's only 7, let's get stocked up." Jack chuckled at the look of disgust on Travis' face at the thought of having to spend the next few days stuck in his apartment, nevertheless with the team too. Robert snapped into captain mode.
"Hughes, Warren!" The pair looked up to see their boss.
"You two are going to pick up food from stores. Grab whatever you can find, and grab drinks too. I have a feeling Montgomery's gonna want a whole lot of that this weekend." Travis smiled and nodded, before Sullivan continued.
"Gibson, Bishop, Montgomery and I, we'll go round everyone's houses and board up the windows. Here first - if we don't have time for everywhere, this place is where we're staying, we gotta make this safe, fast. Miller and Herrera, you guys go to the station, grab clothes out of everyone's lockers, then pick up blankets from the store. We're in for a tough one people. Let's move!" He flashed a smile at them all, showing that he wasn't being harsh, just taking charge to make these next few days as good as they can be.
"Nineteen!" Vic yelled, a grin spread across here face.
"Nineteen!" The chorus of the team followed.
"Guys, invite your partners, parents, families. Whoever you think is gonna need help right now, bring them here! No man left behind." Travis said, getting up out of his seat.
"Hey, thanks man. I'm gonna bring Miranda, the kids are staying at the auntie's house for the week so she'll want the company, okay?" Ben asked.
"Dr Bailey! She's the greatest." Jack chuckled.
"Course dude, she's family too." Travis patted Ben on the shoulder as he brushed past him.
"My dad," Andy started. "He'll probably wanna be here."
"Pruitt, yes!" The man cheered.
"Anyone else?" He continued.
"Right then, let's crack on!" Bishop said, walking in the door with a load of wooden boards in her arms.

The team, bit by bit, began to arrive back at the apartment.
First, Andy and Dean unlocked the door to find an empty home. They dumped the clothes in a spare drawer they found in the closet and set out the blankets on the couch. They grabbed a spare pack of nails and a hammer or two, and carried on to join the others, helping board up the windows of the team. Next to arrive was Pruitt and Miranda, both coming from the hospital after an appointment they shared, to check that the cancer hadn't progressed. A few minutes after, Vic and Ben turned up, and the four of them packed away the groceries before grabbing a few beers and making a toast.
"To Seattle and the horrendous weather we are gifted with!" Pruitt joked, a smile on his face.
"To Seattle!" Vic replied, raising her glass.
"To Seattle!" The married couple responded with a laugh, each taking a swig of their drinks after clinking their bottles together.
Finally, the rest of the team arrived back at the house, windswept and drenched, their clothes sticking to them like skin.
"Hey," The six said as they scrambled through the door into the warmth of the heated room.
"Woah! You guys look um-" Vic started, but didn't know how to finish the sentence.
"Disgusting?" Andy finished it for her, heavy breathing and soggy.
"I mean that's one way to put it," Miranda joked. The crew of six stood in a line looking at the four, bone dry, toasty warm people sat in front of them, jealousy rising within them. They turned to one another and whispered into their ears like they were a group of pre teen girls back in 6th grade, planning a secret sleepover. The others sat there, vexed and perplexed.
"Okay," Ben spoke. "Somebody tell us what's going on."
The others eventually turned back to face Bailey. Then they spoke, finally responding to her joke.
"Fair enough." They all said in unison, shrugging before wondering off to go get dry.
"That was," Captain Herrera said after being sure they were all out of earshot. He paused for a second and then continued, "and I've spent a good few of my years with the majority of that lot, the weirdest thing I've ever seen any of them do!" He sounded utterly dumbfounded at the scene that unfolded a few moments prior.
"Was it?" Vic asked. "Ho - honestly I don't even notice anymore." She said.
"What station have you been working at?" Ben asked, leaning forward to see her as he shook out a blanket to place over him and his wife. "And where was I when this happened before?!" He joked, but genuinely wondered.
"I don't know, we all do weird things there. Hey, yesterday I saw Andy eating carrots." She said.
"What's wrong with carrots?" He asked.
"It's not the carrots dumb ass. She put peanut butter on them. And ate it."
"Ew. That's all I have to say. Just - ew." Pruitt gagged, joining in the conversation.

One at a time, everyone filtered slowly back into the lounge, showered and changed out of their waterlogged outfits. They all grabbed a beer off the kitchen countertop as they walked in, some taking a seat on the couch, some at the table and some crouched on a pillow on the soft carpet.
"Put some music on." Andy said from her seat on the floor.
"Oooh, does someone wanna dance, Herrera?" Travis spoke, mocking her.
"Oh Andy," her dad began. "You could show them your old salsa routine!" Pruitt piped up, earning himself a glare from his daughter.
"Say again, you danced salsa?" Montgomery began to mock her again.
"State champion," she sighed, a alight smile forming on her lips.
"You danced competitive salsa?" The captain laughed.
"Yep, and what's so funny ab - Oh. My. God." She got interrupted by her own thoughts.
"Spill." Bishop ordered.
Andy stifled a laugh as she shot a look towards Robert.
"No," he warned her. "Don't you dare!"
"Or what?" She joked flirtatiously with the cheesiest grin he had ever seen. Pruitt shot a look at Maya, asking her all the questions she wanted to ask Andy.
"Or, um. Suspension." He threatened.
"Oh whatever, you wouldn't to that to your best lieutenant."
"Right here." Jack chuckled.
"Oh shut up Gibson, nobody cares." She spat back, not being serious.
"Again, right here." He laughed.
"I damn well would." Sullivan interjected.
"No you wouldn't. Anyways," she turned towards the team. "Sullivan,
your big, tough, strong old captain,"
"That 'old' part was just unnecessary." He said.
She ignored him and continued.
"He, used to-" she got cut off by a large, soft hand slapped over her mouth, muffling her words as she spoke. She smiled an evil grinned and licked his fingers.
"Ew!" He yelled. "Herrera that's disgusting!" Everyone chuckled and Andy spat her words out fast as ever before he could stop her.
"HEUSEDTODANCESALSA!"
"No!" He yelled.
"What!"
"OhMyGod."
"No way."
"Holy shit."
The team laughed.
"So Andy has a partner to dance with." Vic raised her eyebrows twice and dropped them, winning at Andy.
"Oh hell no!" He yelled.
"It's okay, I can dance alone. It'll be better without a lower class dancer to drag me down." She flicked her hair over her shoulder confidently whilst Pruitt found the music to play.
"Oooh, feisty!" Maya said proudly.
Andy began to dance in rhythm to the music. Her hips swayed and her body twisted so elegantly. The room was electric with laughs and claps, but Sullivan stayed silent. His electricity was different. It came from her. Andy. As he watched her from across he room, he melted inside, and all he wanted was her.
