His gaze caught hers as she found herself in a trance with him, her body tangled with the beat of the music and her eyes locked to his. Everyone's eyes were on her as she moved, but Andy's we're only on him. Cheers and claps rumbled through the air as the music began to fade and it was just the two of them again as Andy stopped by the kitchen, leaning on the counter as her smile shone towards Robert, past the excited team members. Her eyes sparkled, and he tried to read them, but all he could see was how they lit up the room. She looked deep into his, and all she could see was peace. He looked happy, and at peace. Almost as if he were... She couldn't think it. She wished for it, she prayed for it, but she couldn't believe it. Her eyes were different now. Full of hope, and fear, and something else he couldn't bring himself to believe. Something new. Something warm.
'It's not real. Surely.' He thought.
"Chief, you dance?" Jack asked, pulling the pair back to reality.
"Nope, not me Gibson. Not today," He chuckled in reply.
"Oh come on cap, drop the act, you know you wanna," The man said raising his eyebrows jokingly, earning a chuckle from a few.
Robert laughed and shook his head. He was about to give in.
A breeze blew, flapping the sleeves of shirts as Andy shut the door behind her. He took a few steps towards the open space in Travis' lounge, hesitating.
"Hey guys, I just gotta um - 10-100. I'll be back in a sec." he spoke.
"Don't chicken out of this dance dude, we're waiting for you!" Miller yelled.

Maya's eyes scanned the room, searching for her Andy. She'd been gone a while. She needed to find her and talk. She had seen the stolen glances the man threw at her friend, the lingering fingers as they passed each other a drink and the hands that wonder slightly over the lines as the pair sit next to each other. As the blonde stood, she pulled a strand of hair from her face and said
"Hey Miller, you got a time on that food yet?"
"Ah!" He breathed as an alarm went off in the kitchen. "Perfect timing." He laughed.
"Great, I'll go grab Andy." Maya said.
As she took the few steps down the corridor towards the bathroom, a lot went through her head. 'Knock. What if you catch them? Don't knock. You need to know the truth.' As she stopped at the door, her hand hovering over the handle, her lungs filled with air and she braces herself. Gathering the courage, she grabbed it, pushing it open with one swift move.
"Hey Andy, foods rea- "
"Oh, god. Yeah I'll be right out." Andy said, her flushed cheeks turning a deep shade of crimson red. Maya froze. Her eyes squinted as she tried to take in the scene laying before her. Andy was sat on the edge of the bathtub, her fingers entwined in the hem of Robert's shirt. Her free hand rested on the crook of his neck. That soft spot she was unaware of that lied between his shoulder and his jawline. It took everything in him not to moan as her fingers brushed lightly over it. He was sat opposite her, perched on the edge, his hand resting on the top of her thigh, stroking it, comforting her. The other brushed away the water from her tear stained cheeks.
"I'm just gonna - " Maya started.
"I should be going." Sullivan said as he coughed and rose up.
The room was filled with an icy silence as he stood and wondered towards the exit. As the door clicked shut behind him, the girls fought to talk.
"I can't believe you." Maya snuffed.
"I can't do this Maya. I'm scared, I'm terrified. I'm so overwhelmed by everything and I'm so hungry and so tired and Ryan is gone. I just needed something, someone to hold me, to help me forget it all just for a minute okay? So you don't get to play the victim. Not now. Not today." Andy sniped at Maya, choking on her words as sobs caught in her throat. It was silent for a moment. Nobody knew what to say that would help either one of them understand.
"Andy," her was was calmer now, soothing, "you love him."
"What?" The brunette raised an eyebrow. "Where in hell or earth did you get that from?" She screwed her face up, laughing as she began to cheer up.
"Oh come on! You two were about 40 seconds away from fucking when I walked in. What if that had been Gibson. Be more careful next time!" Maya laughed.
"We weren't fucking!" Andy argued.
"Not yet," her friend bit back.
"All seriousness though Maya, nothing is happening. Okay? And I promise to tell you if it ever does."
The lieutenant smiled warmly.
"So you want it to." She teased.
"What? No! I never said that!"
The pair laughed, then headed out for food, resting their heads on each other like they used to.
