Music was blasting from the speakers and people were already drunk in the yard. Korra was accustomed to this since she would go out to these types of parties with Kuvira and her friends. To her understanding, the party was hosted by someone who didn't go to their school.
"Do you see the others?" Asami asked the girls.
Korra scanned the room quickly and found them in the kitchen getting drinks.
"Yeah, they're in the kitchen." Korra said in Asami's ear and pointed at them.
"You have a sharp eye, Korra." Opal said.
Asami grabbed Korra's hand and led them to where the boys were. Korra felt an electric shock when Asami grabbed her hand and for some reason, she didn't want to let go. Normally, Korra wouldn't let anyone grab her hand but with Asami it was different. She knew she could trust her and she felt safe with Asami.
"Hey, guys!" Bolin shouted once he saw the girls.
"Hi!" Everyone responded back.
Mako was preparing drinks and handing them to the twins and Kai. Once he saw Korra he went to be by her side. He saw Asami and Korra's hands linked together but didn't pay much attention to it.
"Korra, glad you came. Want a drink?" Mako asked smiling at her.
"Sure. Coke and Vodka. Asami, do you want something?"
"Same as Korra, please."
Mako got their order and began drinking together. Korra decided to take it slow since she has her fight tomorrow. Asami took a big gulp of her drink and so did Mako. Well, I might end up babysitting today.
"Korra, dance with me?" Asami asked happily and tugged a bit on Korra's hand.
"Lead the way." Korra said with a smile liking seeing Asami smile and look at her with a playful expression.
Asami grabbed her hand and led her to the improvised dancing room that was the living room. The song "I Gotta Feeling" by Black Eyes Peas started to play.
I got a feeling
That tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be a good, good night
The song started with a slow up beat and Asami started swaying her hips to the beat. Korra moved steadily side to side watching Asami.
Tonight's the night, let's live it up
I got my money, let's spend it up (fee-)
Go out and smash it, like "Oh my God"
Jump out that sofa, let's kick it, off (fee-)
The beat became faster and more energetic. Asami had come closer to Korra and both were jumping as they focused on each other and let go to the music.
And I'm feeling (woo-hoo)
That tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be a good, good night
Asami came closer to Korra and singed into her ear moving her hips slowly as the song was coming to its end. Korra followed Asami's moves looking into her eyes and she felt her heart beating faster. For a moment, Asami's green eyes made Korra forget about her problems and feel like she was living for the first time in a long time. I know we meet a few days ago but I'm sure that I like Asami more than a friend. What have you done to me, Asami? Korra has been focused on getting out of this town and away from her uncle but lately, she could only think about Asami.
Both of them were breathing hard as the song ended and were staring at each other. I can't bring her into my mess, she deserves better.
"Who knew you had moves?" Asami joyfully said.
"You are not bad either. Want to go back to the kitchen?" Korra asked wanting to go back to the others to not focus on her feelings towards Asami.
"Yeah, I could use a drink."
Back in the kitchen, the group was talking and laughing.
"Korra! Asami! Take shots with me!" Wei said giving each a shot.
"What is it?" Korra said trying to figure out what alcohol was inside the shot glass something she was used to doing."Tequila." Wei sad ecstatic. "Bottoms up!"
The three took their shots, Wei and Asami making faces and Korra showing no expression but she laughed at them.
"Guys, I need a partner for beer pong!" Bolin yelled over the music. "Asami, come."
Asami didn't have the chance to respond as Bolin grabbed her and dragged her outside. She didn't want to leave Korra's side, leaving her alone in a party where she hardly knew anyone. Only thing...Mako immediately went to Korra's side.
"Want to dance?" Mako asked friendly and smiled at her.
Korra accepted but didn't dance with him like she danced with Asami. They danced like two best friends and nothing more. Mako was handsome and everything but he just...wasn't Korra's type. He produced no feeling like Asami did in her. Korra trusted Mako like she would trust a brother and saw him like that. With Asami...there were feelings that felt more than a simple friendship. Feeling that Korra wasn't ready to process. Mako didn't realize it as he was happy Korra was dancing with him and after a few songs they went back to the kitchen where their friends were waiting. Asami and Bolin were back from playing. Asami looked drunker than before and Korra immediately went to her side, grabbing Asami gently from her waist to help Asami balance herself.
"Korrrrr! I missed youuuuu!" Asami slurred and gave Korra a quick kiss on the cheek.
"I missed you to, Sami." Korra laughed at the nickname Asami gave her and the one she gave Asami but she also blushed from Asami's kiss on the cheek. The good thing is it was dark enough for nobody to see.
"Mako! Set up the shots!" Asami announced and everybody laugh.
"Asami, you are drunk already. Are you sure?" Korra asked worried.
"Don't worry, Korra." Bolin told her. "This is something both of them do at every party."
Everyone nodded and watched as Mako set up two lines of eight shots each. He put Asami's in front of her. Their friends counted down and each of them started to pour down the shots down their throats quickly.
After that, Asami couldn't remember anything from that night but for Korra it was a night she would never forget.
