Ron was just sitting nonchalantly on the couch in the Commen Room, with a large wolf resting it's head on his lap, when there came a sound in the Portrait Hall.

"No Hermione, for the last time, we were returning potion ingredients!" said George.

I perked up my ears, still a little groggy. I looked up at Ron, who looked frightened down at me. His look woke me up quickly, and I stood up and jumped to the floor then I laid down, hoping to transform back, but it was to late! Before we knew it, a voice said,

"Fortuna Major," and everyone stepped into the Common Room.

It must have been a pretty shocking sight, because they all stopped dead in their tracks.
A terrifyingly huge wolf standing in Gryffindor Common Room. I don't dare change back into my human form now, in front of all of these people.
Hermione and Ginny instinctivly jumped back, so that they were pressed against the back of the portrait of the fat lady. Harry was just bewildered, and he couldn't move. The twins, actually took a hesitant step forward, transfixed with awe.

"Umm," Ron said, trying to quickly come up with a lie,

"Hagrid! Hagrid found her in the Forbidden Forest, and..." he paused for a moment, thinking, "and she had been beaten up and thrown out of her pack! She would have bled to death if he hadn't taken her in!" He nodded, trying to get them to believe him. They all slowly nodded back.

"So when he got to his house, he saw me going toward the quidditch pitch. He ran up to me, the wolf in his arms, and asked me to take care of her until she healed!" He said, energetically, finishing his wild story.

I dropped my large head slightly a tthe tale. It was quick thinking, but there was no way it would work..

Strangely enough, they believed him!

"And you said yes to letting a beast," she gestured toward me, "into the Common Room?! Why couldn't he take care of it?" Hermione said, in disgust.

"Well," Ron said, looking down at me, "He was afraid she'd, uh, eat the chickens!

And she's actually kinda grown on me..." He rubbed my head between my ears.
I stood up shakily, rather than laying on the cold floor, to my full height.
Ginny gasped, and Hermione dree her wand. I shook myself, like a wet dog, lazily. I pretended that my left back leg was badly wounded, to cooperate with Ron's story.
I walked over to the fireplace, dragged my 'wounded' leg behind me, limping at the point that I would usually use that leg. I laid down, curled up so that I could see all of them, on the plush red and gold carpet in front of the fireplace, which was blazing warmth my way.
I whimpered as I tried to lay down, and sympathy flooded onto their faces.
"See! She's harmless. All she needs is recovery!"

"When she is nursed back to health," Harry started, the pity draining from his face, "thrn that animal will be just as vicious as the wolves that did this to her!" The rest considered this, then looked concerned for their own health and well being.

"When she is nursed back to health, I will pass her back to Hagrid to deal with her." Ron corrected.

"I'm going to bed," Ginny said, just completely done with this situation and subject.

"Agreed." Hermione said, nodding her head, and they head up the spiral staircase.
Fred and George walked up to me slowly, their hands outstretched as you would approach a stray dog to sniff you. I sniffed their hands as a dog would, a strong tinge of gunpowder filling my acute senses.
I licked Fred's hand, and he gave me a pat on the head. When George leaned down to pet me, I licked his face, and he cried out in disgust. I smiled in my head, and they each laughed at each other and bidded us goodnight as they headed up the stairs to their dorm.
Harry was left, standing there, as Ron wrapped up my 'injured' leg with a few Ace bandages he conjured up. According to the clock above the fireplace, it was ten til' twelve. There was no sign of anyone but Harry, Ron, and I in the common room, and there wouldn't be for a long time.
