My taxi arrived on the dot of 5am and quietly locking my front door and heading out into the warm July morning with my suitcase, I couldn't help but feel excited knowing that in a matter of hours I would be back with Jack and we would get to spend 2 glorious weeks together.

We pulled up outside Heathrow Terminal 5 at 6:40am, we'd had a good run, which I was pleased about as I didn't want the added stress of running late. I checked my bags in and went through security and headed to Wetherspoons to grab some breakfast, and as I'd promised Jack the day before, a glass of Champagne! It's never too early and besides, I was celebrating the beginning of my new life with Jack.

Just as I sat there sipping the last of my Champagne, my phone started ringing, I picked it up to see who it was, it was Jack, he was facetiming me. What was I gonna do? I couldn't answer it, he would know I wasn't at home or at work and if a tannoy announcement for a flight came over the loud speaker it would be game over. I cancelled the call, immediately regretting not just letting it ring out as he would know that I had rejected his call. He instantly rang back, this time I left it to just ring out, while people around me glared at me for not answering it. I switched my phone to silent, then it started vibrating across the table as Jack called me again. I felt the most awful guilt for not answering but knew I had no choice if my surprise was going to stay a surprise.

I got up to leave, and as I started to make my way to the gate for my flight which had now been called I got a text message from Jack.

I read the message, I felt so bad, I hadn't thought this part through at all, about what I would say to him about not being in touch all day

I started to panic a little bit, I didn't know what to do and I needed to board the plane, but I also didn't want to leave Jack hanging until I saw him tonight, so I typed out a text message telling him everything was fine and I loved him,  it wouldn't go through. I had no time to go somewhere to get signal so just had to board the plane and hope he wouldn't worry too much for the next 4 hours until I landed in Mykonos when I could hopefully reply.

The flight was uneventful, I managed to get a couple of hours sleep, which was what I needed after my early start this morning and not long after the breakfast things had been cleared away we started our descent into Mykonos airport. The sun was shining and the pilot told us it was a delightful 33 degrees with a gentle breeze today, the local time was just before 3pm on Wednesday afternoon. I could not wait to get out of the airport and start making my way to the villa and start to get ready to surprise Jack at the bar.
