Jack and I kept pretty much to ourselves for the next week, we wanted to avoid running into Taylor before she flew back to the UK and also, we just wanted to spend time together on our own for a change.
We spent a lot of time in bed, practicing just in case, but also went out for some walks, sunbathed on the beach, swam in our pool, went on dinner dates, and mainly just chilled out. We spent some time with Jess and Ben as they were just up the hill from us, but mostly it was just us, it was absolute bliss, and it made me realise that when it was just us two, there was no drama, and it made me fall in love with him even more.
As Monday of week two of our holiday rolled around I could tell Jack was getting antsy about doing a test. We'd both been reading up on when was best to do a test, everything we read told us to wait until my period was late, but that you could potentially get a positive result before that. I was due in 2 days and while I wanted to wait, Jack was chomping at the bit to get a test and do it as soon as possible.
"I'll give Jess a call and ask her to pop to a shop and pick one up for us" said Jack "If I'm seen in a shop buying a pregnancy test, it'll be front page news before lunch time" he said, stroking his hand through his messy hair and rolling his eyes.
After a lot of persuasion from Jack, Jess reluctantly agreed to go into the nearest town and find a pharmacy to buy a test for us. It was only about a 20 minute drive away, but she forced Ben to go along with her. Jack checked his watched as soon as they left our villa, it was 10:08am precisely, he told me.
"Let's head out and get some breakfast while we're waiting for them to get back" I said to Jack as I picked up my phone and purse and put my sunglasses on.
"I wanna be here for when they get back" said Jack, nervously biting his nails.
"They will be at least an hour babe" I said "Besides, I'm starving and I would love nothing more than a big, greasy, unhealthy breakfast with my favourite human before you force me to eat rabbit food for 9 months" I said, elaborately fluttered my eyelashes at him "Pretty please"
"OK, but only because you asked me so nicely" he said, as he grabbed his things from the table, and took my hand, leading me out of the front door.
We took a slow stroll down the hill into the village and settled on a cute little café that was set back from the main road. We knew the press had been lurking around the area while we'd been there but we'd not seen anyone for a few days so decided to sit out the front where we could watch the world go by as we ate our breakfast.
Jack ordered an orange juice and a full English. I thought about having something healthy, but decided to have the same as Jack with a coffee. We sat there without a care in the world, laughing and chatting blissfully while we ate our breakfasts, talking about how much we'd enjoyed our time away together, Jack's potential move to City, about our future together and what we wanted to do, then I brought up about how he would feel if the test was negative.
"You do know there's a strong possibility that this test is going to be negative don't you babe?" I said to him "I just want you to be prepared for that, as I know how much you want this right now, but I also don't want you to think that if this test is negative that it means it's never gonna happen"
Jack looked at me as he finished chewing his bacon and took a sip of his orange juice, looking completely unphased by what I had just said.
"I know babe, but I can't explain why, I just have this gut feeling that it's gonna be positive" he said.
While I was as excited as Jack, I was more worried about how he was going to be if the test didn't go the way he wanted. There was no telling him that it wasn't going to be the outcome he wanted so I just had to admit defeat and hope for the best.
