" "no problem." king replied, nodding to a fellow classmate he held the door open for. upon entering the new academic campus building, staff directed the men dressed in fine suits to lecture hall, the chatter of deep voices filling the air and dress shoes shuffling against the finest of tiled floors.
king already graduated college. so why was he back in a school environment you may ask? well, now he enrolled in a *kingship class [i don't think kingship classes are a real thing but just pretend for a bit]—a specialized academic course that had strict rules, and only accepted pure formality. this particular class was for teaching aspiring men how to become kings. yes, that's right. kings. with coronated crowns and riches and politics and everything glamorous one would imagine.
since king had nothing else to do, he decided to put the kingship class on his track record in case he would get in any positions involving politics—which he wholeheartedly planned to pursue anyhow. the kingship class would only put him at an advantage since he noticed that politics was evolving and changing for kingdoms. now the debut of the royal counsel presented a nasty, forlorn, and *austere edge over aristocrats and any other position in royalty.
in the old times when king was in high school, there would be no such counsel. just a judiciary branch that still presented itself with equality, and the very existence of people's power had a strong advantage. but according to progression and the change of what school were teaching about politics, the royal counsel came around to shut that down. it was only because people were greedy and controlling. maybe the royal counsel would step into help dream with the whole l'manberg and greater dream smp conflict but no. it's brand new. they need to "settle" first—appear flattering for the headlines.
so this is where king would draw the line on his part. he was determined to join the faces of politics and perhaps get an inside scoop on the crooked ways that kingdoms were being operated and controlled in like a chokehold. maybe he could even advocate for change. like said, this is only a complete advantage for him. kingship training would get him anywhere he needed. maybe even as far as working behind the scenes at the greater dream smp. king subconsciously admired that thought.
unbeknownst to the welcoming faces of the academy, staff from all over—even from different classes not correlated to the kingship training—who were lined up against the side of the hallways, watching the sheer amount of men pour into the lecture hall, one particular teacher caught onto king's figure, watching attentively as they basked in his mysterious aura... not a particularly good aura though.
it felt powerful.. striking to their heart. the teacher silently excused themselves, taking their eyes off from king and walking down the halls to the nearest bathroom. when king stepped inside the lecture hall, he promptly took his seat and listened to the lecture that was given out from the main professor that ran the kingship training classes. he then did roll call to split the men up into many groups, each group having a short amount of people that would get a certain scheduled rotation of different types of training done all over the academy.
"next! terrence..." when it was king's turn to be called down, he was already descending the steps from his seat to meet with the main professor. he noticed the professor's face flicker with surprise and uncertainty while staring down at the roll call sheet in his hands, pausing before saying king's last name aloud. "kingston.." he looked straight into king's eyes, seeing him nod. he squinted his eyes. "terrence, is leonard your father's name?" the professor proceeded to ask.
"yessir." king replied with a very faint smile trickling his face. "ah wow. your father has helped out with my stocks before. what a small world this is." he tilted his head, still looking at king with a smile. "do you go by any other name?" he asked. "king. call me king, please." king stated, seeing the professor's eyebrow quirk up. "already?" he jabbed. king's smile slightly widened. "yes, like the chess piece. not to be... what would be the right word... punny?" king jabbed back, making the professor chuckle.
"inadequate might be a fit description." he replied. "hmm.. i'll get back to you when i've found the right word, and i'll certainly be *cromulent by then." king said smoothly, making the professor smile at him and scoff. "sure thing, king. you're in group fifteen." he said, motioning to the line on the other side of the room. king bowed his head slightly in curtesy. "thank you. see you later." king departed, getting in line with his group.
