THE SUN STARTS to rise so we get out of the sea and scramble back into our clothes.
We walk across the beach, our hands entwined, before reaching a cliff.
I sit down dangling my legs over the cliff and Rafe joins me. I rest my head on his shoulder, watching the sunrise.

We reach home and Rafe is parking his bike.
"Hey Rafe.." I say, looking around to see cop cars all around his house.
"Yeah?" He answers.
"Rafe you need to get out of here!" I panic.
He turns around to see the cop cars surrounding the front of his house.
"Shit." He shouts, hopping back onto his bike and riding off without looking back.
I walk through the back door to make my way upstairs when I'm stopped by a cop.
"Eve Williams right?" The woman asks.
"Yeah, what's going on?" I say.
"Where have you just came from?" She asks.
"I went on a morning walk why, what's happening why are you here?" I say hoping she doesn't notice the panicked state I'm in.
"Okay calm down, we're here for Rafe, do you happen to know where he is?" She asks.
"No, I woke up like an hour ago and he wasn't here" I lie.
"Okay well I'm going to need to you to write a statement about what happened on the turf the day Peterkin died to see if your statement lines up with others." She tells me.
"Yeah okay." I say grabbing the paper shes holding out and running upstairs.
"Let me know if you get a hold of him" She shouts up to me.

I get into Rafe's bedroom that's a massive mess thanks to the police investigating.
I sit down at his desk starting to write my statement.

"I heard a gun shot and got out of the car to see what had happened, when I got to the turf I saw John B running through the fields of wheat. I drove back home with Rafe and Sarah'

I hand my statement in at the police station and head home. Lying to the police is the least of my worries right now.

Once I'm home I run upstairs to Rafe's bedroom and change out of my clothes. I pull on one of Rafe's hoodies, before climbing onto his bed and drifting back off to sleep.

I'm sat at the kitchen island eating dinner when Ward walks in.
"They got him." He says.
"Fuck." I whisper, dropping my head into my hands.
"Barry turned him in." Ward tells me.
"That backstabber." I mumble under my breath before running up to Rafe's bedroom.
"Eve!" I hear Ward shout up at me.
When I get to his room I slide into bed and cry into my pillow, longing for Rafe to be home.

The next couple days I feel kind of numb, like nothing matters anymore.
I haven't changed my clothes since.
The only time I left the house was to pick up.
I wanted to prove my family wrong I really did. I didn't want to become addicted to coke like my dad. I wish I had never touched the stuff, I think to myself as I let the white powder flow through my bloodstream.
All of a sudden my phone buzzes.

john b
come down to the pier now. don't wanna miss this.

I run downstairs as soon as I finish reading the text. John B and I haven't spoken since what happened on the turf, what could possibly be so important that he needs to text me?

I run down to the end of the pier where all of the pogues are stood along with a dozen police officers.
"I love you" I hear Ward's voice shout sounding like it's coming from the boat in front of me.

Before I can even register what's happening Ward's boat in front of me goes up in flames. My jaw drops to the floor and a sob escapes from my mouth.
"No!" I hear Sarah scream, and I run up to her, letting her fall in my arms as she cries. I watch as the rest of the gang stare at the remains of the boat. John B not even looking back to look at Sarah.

My heart hurts for the Cameron's. They are basically my family. They're all I have at the moment. Ward's death hurts me too, after all he's done for me and how kind he has treated me.
But this only means one thing. Rafe's name has been cleared. My heart does somersaults at the thought of seeing him again but I'm distraught about how he is going to feel when he finds out the reason he's free.
