alyssa's POV

"Can you guys just record this with me?" I ask Ashton. "I really need a band to play my music."

He shrugs. "Yeah, sure. We've got another two weeks off."

"Thanks, Ash."

"Let me text the boys. When do you want to meet up?" He asks, plopping down on my couch. We'd been up in my room discussing different types of food.

NUTELLA IS BETTER THAN VEGEMITE, JUST TO BE CLEAR.

"Uh, now?" I say, readjusting my blanket on top of me. "You guys need the sheet music and stuff."

"True." He says, typing. He gets an immediate response from Mikey.

"Michael says that he'll bring Calum over with him."

"Do they not have Luke with them?" I ask.

Ashton shrugs. "I dunno. Luke's probably screwing off somewhere."

I decide to text Luke myself.

You:
Where are you? we want u to learn a new song.

Luke:
I'm at Build-A-Bear workshop. What song and why? Did the boys write a song without me?

You:
Its my song. And why the hell are u at build-a-bear?

Luke:
Demons?

Luke: I wanted a new penguin, k? Calum decapitated mine.

You: yeah. And since when do u use words like "decapitated"?

Luke: since now. I'm on my way.

"Luke says he's on his way." I tell Ashton, who's fiddling with the zipper on the throw pillow.

"Where was he?" He asks.

"Build-a-bear." I giggle, setting my phone down.

"Oh my God, seriously? What a dork." Ashton rolls his eyes.

"I don't know, guys and stuffed animals are attractive." I shrug.

"No way." Ashton sits up.

"I'm serious! It's cute, okay?" I exclaim.

"You are so weird!" He exclaims. I roll my eyes.

"Says you." I shoot back.

"What do you mean?" He says, feigning hurt. "I'm perfectly normal!"

"As opposed to...?"

"You're so mean!" He exclaims.

"Nah."

"Yes."

"Nope."

"Don't deny it, Aly. You're an asshole." He jokes.

"Do I look like a butt to you?" I ask. He pretends to examine my face closely, his hand braced behind him.

"Yes." He replies. I slap his arm playfully and laugh.

"Who's mean now?"

I hear the front door open, and I peer around the corner to see Martha.

"Hi, Martha." I greet.

"Hello, Mrs. Chase!" Ashton calls cheerfully.

"Hi, Alyssa. Hey, Ashton. What's up?" She asks, slipping off her shoes and nudging the door closed with her hip.
