CHAPTER 31
IN THE MIDDLE"HEY," LUISA RETURNED TO TORREY'S SIDE, placing her head on the latter's shoulder after helping Blake to the bed in the extra room.
She had had a little too much to drink after venting about her family and was close to passing out.
"Hey," Torrey intertwined their fingers together, raising her hand to place a kiss on it.
After a few minutes of silence, Luisa tilted her head to the side a little, so she could look up at her girlfriend, "Can I ask you something?"
"Yes, I would very much like to continue what we were doing," Torrey replied readily, sliding her free hand up Luisa's leg.
She laughed, pulling away, swatting at her hand, "No, not that,"
Torrey pouted in return, and then nodded to herself almost consolingly, "Later, then," she put her arms around Luisa's shoulders pulling her back to her, "So, what did you want to ask?"
Luisa scoffed out a chuckle through her nose, shaking her head before settling herself comfortably against Torrey, "It's about what you said to Blake just now," she said.
"What—about you giving me head? I mean you were about to,"
Luisa let out an exasperated groan, jabbing her lightly with her elbow, "Can you not talk about sex for a minute?"
"Probably not," Torrey shrugged, and then altered her answer once Luisa narrowed her eyes at her, "Okay, okay, I'll try,"
"I meant you said when you could relate to the family drama," she raised her head so that she could at Torrey, "Is there something you want to talk about?"
Torrey tightened her arms around her and sighed, "I don't know," she mumbled.
"What?"
"If I want to talk about it,"
"That's okay," Luisa shrugged her arms off so that she could sit up and turn around to face Torrey, "But you do know that you can talk to me if you want to, right?"
One corner of Torrey's lips tugged up and she nodded, "I know," she let out another sigh and then rubbed her hand down her face, "But also..." she trailed off as if she wanted to say something, but shook her head, "It's whatever, never mind,"
"What?" Luisa prodded, and when she didn't get a response she tried again, "What is it?"
"It's stupid,"
"What is?"
She pursed her lips, considering her options, before saying, "I know it's not fair, but I feel like... I'm putting you in between if I tell you shit about my family, since you know them and all. And also, I feel like... you might be biased,"
"What?"
"I told you it was stupid,"
"No, I mean biased how?" Luisa asked, not entirely getting what she was trying to say.
"Okay, Polly is your best friend since I-don't-even-know-when, and you even know my mom longer than you've known me,"
"That's because I didn't even know you existed," she pointed out.
"I know that. And that's no one's fault. But there is also a chance if I were to say something about my mom or Polly, you might take their side, you know?"
Luisa frowned, "Take their side?"
She squished her own face with her hands pressed to her cheeks, "It is stupid," she resumed her initial stand, "Just forget whatever I said,"
