CHAPTER 33 [M]
WE CAN TALK LATER

LUISA CLOSED HER EYES, letting out a long sigh when the warm water from the shower cascaded down her skin. She had just returned back to her apartment from Blake's mother's funeral. She wasn't really planning on attending because she hadn't met Blake's mother even once, but she went anyways, wanting to be there for her friend.

Blake was back to pretending as if she was fine, and not crying, but she had leaned against her every once in a while through the service and Luisa had stayed right by her side. She made sure to remind that Blake could come by her place in case she needed to before leaving.

She stayed in the shower for a good ten minutes, massaging the knot in her neck and shoulders and just standing under the running water. It was relaxing.

There was a nagging voice at the back of her head, berating her for wasting water, but she ignored it. It wasn't as if she did this every day.

Drying herself and then tying the towel around her body, she walked out of the bathroom. She was alone, or at least she thought she was.

Luisa heard a clatter from her kitchen followed by a soft muttering of curses. The abrupt alarm she felt dissipated away when she realised that she recognised the voice.

Slowly she walked over towards the kitchen and peeked in, fully relaxing when she spotted the familiar figure standing in her kitchen, her back to her.

"What are you doing?"

"Oh, fuck," Torrey's shoulders jerked up upon hearing Luisa's voice, and dropped whatever it was she was holding in her hand, turning around with a hand to her chest, "You scared me,"

Luisa crossed her arms, and then quickly dropped them to her sides when she felt the knot of her towel loosening a little bit. Maybe she should have changed into proper clothes first.

"You scared me first," she retorted, "Did you use the spare key again?"

Torrey strategically avoided answering the question, rubbing the back of her neck, "I thought you weren't back yet,"

"I just came back,"

"Oh," she nodded her head slowly.

"So, what are you doing here?"

"Um, what?" she blinked at Luisa and the latter pursed her lips, trying to hide the smile that was threatening to take hold of her.

Torrey was clearly having a hard time to not have her eyes stray away from Luisa's face.

"Did you want something?"

"Um," Torrey cleared her throat, and Luisa had to suck in her bottom lip to keep herself from chuckling. She then picked up whatever it was she had dropped—it was a peeler, Luisa noticed, and then moved forward this time the nervousness in her fading away with each step she took towards Luisa, "Yeah, actually," she was standing right in front of Luisa now and the latter could feel her breath on her forehead.

"Yeah?" Luisa's voice came out as a mere wisp of air, and she willed herself to look up at Torrey.

Torrey's hand come up to the spot where her neck and shoulder meet, flicking a bead of water away. Luisa tried hard to keep herself still despite the chill that went through her spine from that slightest contact.

"I want—," the same fingers went under Luisa's chin, holding her gaze up, "— to kiss you," her thumb brushing over her lips, "There and everywhere. I want to touch you," she leaned forward so that their noses brushed against each other, and Luisa's lips parted off its own accord, but Torrey wasn't kissing her. Not yet.
