Chapter 15: Maria incident

{DEREK's POV}

I woke up the next morning with my head pounding. I didn't quite remember what happened last night after we got out of the cab. Everything from last night was a blur but I think I remember a few moments here and there. I sat on my bed and looked at my bed side table. There is a note beside it. *"Drink this and the medicine, you'll feel much better" -Em"* She is the sweetest. I remember when I got sick back in London, she was the one who took care of me while I was at home. I drank the medicine and the juice or I don't know what it was that Emily had left me. I admit, it made me feel a little bit better. I got in my shower and realized that I was wearing different clothes from last night. There is another note on top of a pile of clothes that I was wearing last night. *"This clothes is clean. Don't worry I didn't look ;)" -Em*. I smiled and placed the note back down. After I took a shower, I went downstairs and I hear Emily, but she is not alone. She is talking to another girl. Her voice was very familiar, it sounds like the voice I grew up with. Maybe Julianne? I walked to the kitchen and saw Emily talking to Julianne. I was right it was her.

"Hey! When did you get here?" I asked
"About a month ago actually, remember when you picked me up at the airport?" Emily said with a smirk
"Very funny Em. Julianne?" I asked with a smile
"Last night, when you were all woozy from the party" she said
"Really? I forgot you said you were coming over"
"No biggie. Good thing I caught up with Emily over here and heard that you lucky guy is this lady's boyfriend" she said
"I am" I said very proudly and kissed Emily on her forehead.
"So what are you up to Julianne?"
"We were actually planning on shopping today" said Emily
"You wanna come?" Julianne asked me
"Seriously? Shopping? me?" I said pointing at my chest. Then Mark walked up to the room
"Yeah! Mark! You are coming today right?" Julianne asked
"Guess I walked in at the wrong moment huh?" said mark scratching his head
"C'mon! It'll be fun!" Emily said
"Fine! if Mark comes I'll come" I said thinking Mark will disagree
"Alright Let's go" said Mark and my eyes widened.
"Never thought you'd agree to shopping mark" I said
"Wait shopping? I thought we were going to eat" he said
"We can eat too. and no take backs!" said Emily
"Alright! See you in an hour?" asked Julianne
"Sounds good" said Emily then Julianne left.

Emily and Mark stayed in the kitchen while I walked to the door with Julianne.

"Heard about the Maria incident" she whispered
"What? how did you know?" I asked
"Well last night, Emily, Mark and I was just drinking coffee and catching up when Mark opened that topic"
"Seriously Mark!" and threw my hands up
"Be careful. I know Emily. She doesn't show that she is hurting now but I know she was last night"
"It's not my fault. I didn't know Maria would do that"
"I know but you can't let that kind of thing happen again. I know you and Emily just got together, but don't take her for granted"
"I know Julianne, It won't happen again"
"Good! Cause If you do, I'll be the one who will hunt you down" she said and messed up my hair. I opened the door for her. "See you later" she added
"See yah" I closed the door then walked back to the kitchen

"So shopping?" I said
"I know you don't want to go, If you don't want its fine" she said
"I'm kidding Em" I said then hugged her
"I can't believe I agreed to go" said Mark
"Oh yeah, thanks for telling Julianne what happened last night mark" I said sarcastically
"Tell him Emily" he said
"Tell me what?" I asked
"N..nothing.. its nothing" she said
"I'll tell him if you don't" he said
"You told mark and not me?" i asked
"She didn't tell me Derek, I saw it" he said
"saw what?" I asked and saw Emily's head down
"TELL ME!" I demanded. Emily slowly pushed her sleeves up and saw scratch marks and bruises on her arms.
"Who did that to you?!" I shouted
"Maria" said mark
"What!!" I placed my hand on my head
"When I got you to bed, I went downstairs for coffee then someone rang the doorbell. It was Maria. She was furious. She caught me off guard and attacked me. You know how I don't like violence so I didn't fight back. Then Mark came in with Julianne and helped me. They got Maria away from me and Julianne threatened to call the police but I told her not to" she said
"Julianne just arrived that time and I saw her walking to the door and I called her, we talked for a minute then I heard Emily scream" he said and pointed at Emily.
"I'm fine Derek" she said
"No you're not!" I said "Why didn't you call the police!" I added
"What do you want me to do? Call the police then her anger will just build up and in time come back to bite me" she said
"And that's not the worst part" Mark added
"Stop it Mark!" she demanded. "Can you leave us for a while?" she added
"NO! I want to make sure you tell Derek" he said. I looked at Emily and saw her tearing up a bit. I walked up to her and wiped the tears away.
"Please tell me Emily" I whispered to her. Then again she slowly pushed me and raised her shirt just below her bra then turned to her side. I saw not a small bruise but a huge one.
"SHE DID THAT!" I freaked out. She nodded
"She pushed me by this counter" she said then pointed at the edge of the centre isle in our kitchen. I clenched my fist with anger.
"Emily" I said almost tearing up "I just had you for one day and this happened? I'm sorry I didn't protect you last night" I added. She placed her hands on either side of my face
"It's fine Derek. This is nothing I promise" she said
"Did you go to the doctor? I asked
"I called the doctor and he said it will be fine" said mark
"Oh good" and I was relieved "Does it still hurt?" I asked
"No not anymore" she said
"Em?" said Mark
"I don't feel it anymore Mark. Okay?" she said with a tone in her voice
"Please tell me the truth Em" I said
"I don't feel it anymore Derek, I promise" she said

Shopping went by really quickly. I love how I got to spend time with my girlfriend, even though there were paparazzi's here and there, I didn't care because I want the whole world to know that I am with the woman I want to be with. Mark was at his car with Julianne and Emily was in my car. Emily got a text from Julianne

"Hey Julianne wants to grab some Starbucks on the way home" she said
"Alright" I said. I followed Mark's car . When we got to the nearest Starbucks, Emily asked me for my order
"Don't you want me to come with you?" I asked her
"Julianne told me that you and Mark should stay in the car" she said
"Alright, I'll get what you are getting" I said. She nodded and kissed my cheeks.

I waited in the car for about 15 mins. I saw Emily and Jules leaving Starbucks, but they bumped into Tristan and... Tahyna?

{EMILY's POV}

After Julianne and I left Starbucks, I saw Tristan walking with.... Tahyna. I told him she was into him. I was right all along. Tristan saw us too.

"Looks like you two got to spend a little more time alone huh?" I said with a smile
"Nice to see you too Em" he said with his irish accent "Hey Julianne" he added
"How are you guys?" I asked
"Good actually, looks like she was stalking me" he said and Tahyna smiled and pushed him gently
"You two look good together" said Julianne
"Thanks" said Tahyna
"Hey Em, I just need to give this to Mark before it melts. Do you want me to give that to Derek?" she asked and I nodded
"Thanks Jules" I said. "No problem she said and left. The cars were not really far so I bet Derek is seeing what I'm doing right now.
"So, you guys are on a date?" I asked
"Yeah something like that" he said "looks like you are too" he added
"Yeah, well we were just going home but we stopped by for drinks" I said
"Alright, so I don't want you to make them wait, see you around Em" he said and came close for a hug. I forgot I still have bruises from last night. I crunched my face in pain. Seems like Tristan saw my reaction.
"Are you okay Em?" he asked
"Yeah why wouldn't I be?" I said
"Well based on your reaction seems like you're hiding something, and you are wearing warm clothes for a summer heat like this" he said
"Hey don't mess with my fashion choices" I said with a smile. "It's nothing Tristan" I added
"I don't believe you" he said
"I'm fine Tristan, uhmm looks like Derek is calling me so I better go now. See you around Tristan. Nice to meet you again Tahyna" I said and waved goodbye.
"I know you're hiding something Em! I'm going to find out soon" he shouted while I was running towards Derek's car.
I turned around and said "Everybody has something to hide Tristan" and went inside the car.
