Chapter 29: Results

{Emily's POV}

"Surprise!" Everybody shouted when I came in the door. All of my school friends and Dancing with the Stars friends. They were all smiling at me when they saw my shocked face. I almost teared up when I saw all of them. 

"What is happening?" I said

"We wanted to surprise you on your first birthday here in L.A" one of my friends spoke up

"Oh my gosh! Thank you!" I said and started to cry. They all walked towards me and gave me big group hug. 

Everybody is chatting one another. Some of them are watching a movie on my t.v. I came up to my college friends to ask how they did all this. My apartment was decorated beautifully and the food was laid out in the kitchen. 

"Hey! How did you guys did all this?" I asked

"We've been planning this for months now but we thought you didn't want to have a celebration so we stopped for a while, but then one of your friend from London.. uhmmm what's his name again?" Ashley said.

"London? Is it Blake?" I asked

"Yeah, yeah that's the one. He messaged Colleen, asking if we can meet up with him to plan your birthday. He said that he was leaving before your birthday so he wanted to make sure you have an amazing birthday" said Ashley. Wow, did Blake really just did that?

"Really? Ohh I wish he was here." I said. 

"Yeah, Oh one of his gifts is in there" said Colleen while pointing at the table where all my presents are. "He gave it to me before he left so I can bring it today" she continued. 

I felt bad for Blake. He went all through this trouble just to plan my birthday. I really have to go home and thank him in person. 

"Wait a second, I left my apartment locked. How did you guys get in?" I asked

"Well, Remember that time when you freaked out because you thought you lost your keys?" Riley said and I nodded remembering the incident. 

"Yeah, well we took it and made a copy." said Colleen and handed me the spare key. "Sorry about that." she said and they all giggled

"Thanks girls. I appreciate all of this." I said and hugged them all 

My college friends needed to go home a little early because some of theme are going back to their home towns. The rest of my guests were the friends I made when I was in Dancing with the Stars. I walked beside Mark while he was talking to Witney. 

"Hey. Sorry to interrupt but can I talk to you Mark for a sec?" I asked and Witney kindly gestured a yes and she sat down at the couch next to Emma. 

"What's up birthday girl?" asked Mark. 

"Uhmm Where's Derek?" I asked him

"He..He went to Alabama this morning. I thought you knew" he said

"Oh, I didn't. That's good he went early" 

"You okay?" 

"Yeah, Why wouldn't I be? but he told me he wasn't sure that he was going this early" 

"Oh. He wasn't himself these past few days and I don't know why" said Mark 

"Shots for the Birthday girl!" Shouted Val holding up a shot glass filled with liquor. 

A few hours had passed and I was cleaning up the place. Everybody had gone home. Some of them insisted to stay to help me clean up but I told them that I was okay doing it by myself. They have done so much today and I didn't want them to clean as well. I was about to take out the trash, I opened my door and there he was standing outside about to knock.. it was Derek.
