{Derek's POV}
We arrived in an apartment close to Emily's school. I wondered why she had to go here before coming home. I thought that she was only meeting a friend but I was wrong. She told me she will be renting this apartment .
"You're moving out?" I asked
"Yes I am babe" she answered
"Can we talk about it first? I know Alexis is a big change to my life but I don't want to loose you in the process"
"You're not gonna loose me Derek. This has been my first priority when I first move here in LA. I forgot about it for awhile because of us dating"
"But babe I don't mind you staying with us you know that" I said
"I know but I really wanted to be independent and be responsible for my needs during my stay here in LA. Plus, when I move out Alexis and Jane can live with you for awhile and she can stay in my room."
"She's not gonna live with me. Why would you think that?" I asked but our conversation was interrupted by a lady who will show Emily around the house.
"Are you Ms. Wilde?" She asked
"Yes I am" Emily agreed and shook her hand. "This is my boyfriend, Derek" she added
"Nice to meet you Mr. Hough. Big fan by the way" she said and smiled. "Alright let us proceed inside." She added and led the way inside the house.
The tour ended and we were standing in the living room of the apartment.
"So basically this is perfect for two people but preferably one is enough. It is quite small but if you two..." The lady explained
"Ohh no no. He's not moving with me. He has his ow house" Emily said
"Ohh then this is perfect for you. Shall we talk numbers then?"
"Sure but can we do it in another room? Derek can you stay here?" Said Emily. I was shocked that she doesn't want me around all of a sudden.
"Uhhm can you excuse us for just a minute?" I asked the nice lady and she nodded. Emily and I stepped a further back and started whispering.
"Why don't you want me to come with you?" I asked her
"Because i know you. You will want to pay for it if you hear the price. I want to do this on my own" she said
"Alright but we still need to talk about this later when we get home" I said
They both went in another room. After a few minutes, I saw them enter the room again smiling.
"Alright here are the keys and take care. I have to be on my way now." The lady said and gave Emily the keys then she left.
The room was filled with awkwardness. No one spoke after the lady left.
"So what do you think?" She finally spoke
"About what? You moving out?" I said
"Come on Derek, you knew I was going to move out at some point. Living with you and Mark was not a permanently thing for me."
"I thought that when we started dating you wanted to live with me everyday till you know" I said looking at the floor. "Till you move back to London"
"I'm sorry Derek but yesterday I realized what my purpose here in LA was. And that is to finish my studies and get a job. I'm just moving out. I'm still here in LA" she said then hugged me
"Should we talk about Alexis while we are here?" I asked
"Sure" she slowly stepped away after the hug
"Do you think they will move in with me just because she is my daughter?"
"Well yeah. You missed 3 years of her life. I know you want to be involved with her life from now on"
"Emily, they are not moving in with me. But.."
"But what?"
"Jane asked me that after the season is finished, I would move to Alabama with them until the next season"
"She asked what now?" Emily was shocked
"Look I'm still thinking about it. I don't know what to do. I want to be with you"
"Still thinking about it?" Her face was all confused. But she took a moment and her expression changed. "I think you should do it" she said
"I should? Why?"
"Because Alexis is your daughter. I don't want to hold you back from her. You shouldn't be confused. It is the right thing to do"
"It is?" I was confused about her reaction
"Look Derek, after the season I'm going back to London to celebrate Christmas at home. You're going to spend your Christmas with your family and Alexis. After the holiday, I'm going back to school everyday. We obviously won't have time before the next season so might as well spend it with your daughter"
"Are you sure you're okay with it?"
"Of course I am. I.. I want you to be happy. I want Alexis to be happy"
I hugged her so tight. I didn't want to let go of her but what she said was right. I do need to spend some time with my daughter. I have mixed feelings about the decision we made but we have to do it.
We went back home because we still have to go to Blake's Grandmother's birthday party tonight and Emily can't miss it. Mark was watching tv when we went inside.
"So how's your day going?" He asked
"Mark I have to tell you something?" Emily said
"What is it?"
"I'm moving out tomorrow" she said
"What why? Did you guys break up? Look you can go through this. You just have to..." Mark panicking
"Mark! We did not break up. I'm just moving out that's all" said Emily
"Oh thank God. Just as long as you two are together I'm fine with anything" he said then laughed.
Emily went upstairs and I talked to Mark about moving to Alabama after the season is over.
"Mark, remember what I told you last night?" I asked him
"About Alabama?" He said and I nodded.
"I decided to go. Actually Emily and I decided it was a good idea. I'm going to Alabama during the holidays and Emily is going to back to London to.."
"Wait what?" Mark cutting me off
"She's going back to London over the holidays" I finished
"But she told me she doesn't have to and because she doesn't have money to buy a plane ticket home"
"What?" I said
