Warmth

"I love you."

Uraraka's soft voice echoed in the room, as her thumb rubbed softly against her girlfriend's cheek. They both wore a smile, their eyes buried in each others'.

"I love you too."

The blonde replied, bringing the hero in training closer to her. Their faces were a few millimeters from each other, a romantic tension in the air. Finally, their lips met for a short kiss, that was soon broken by both of their smiles. Uraraka rested her head in the crook of Toga's neck, wrapping her arms around her, and closing her eyes.

Toga hummed softly, making the position more comfortable for the both of them. Their warmth was shared, a strong sense of intimacy, as they let themselves be vulnerable with the other. They both knew they were supposed to be enemies, but that thought was abandoned quickly in these moments. No matter who their respective friends were, and what their relationship was, they were with each other. And that's all that mattered, not the side they chose to be with.

Uraraka was training to be a hero. She was aiming to be the best of the best, and for two reasons. She wanted to make money, to relieve her parents' lives, and so they could rest happily. The second reason was that she wanted to make people smile; she wanted to preserve the cheerfulness in their gazes. She wanted to be a hero that brought hope, she wanted lives to be lit up with joy at her appearance, and she wanted to share the optimism she always carried within her.

Toga was a villain. She was on the run for years now, since graduation of middle school. Since she was young, she was attracted to blood, in a seemingly unhealthy way. She was forced to suppress her interest and her quirk, bringing her to a sense of normalcy. But she finally broke the mask, killed one of her fellow classmates; and crush; and fled. She was always told she was a monster, that she didn't deserve to exist. But when she drank blood, she felt ectasy, and she lived for that sensation. She wanted to make a world she could exist in peacefully, and do whatever she wanted.

They both wanted change. And they helped each other see society in another light. Uraraka listened quietly to her story, letting her cry on her shoulder. She accepted that hero society wasn't the one she thought it was, and that it was corrupted, weak and quirkist. Of course, she was shocked, and in denial at first, but truth finally dawned upon her. That day, she swore to be the hero Toga needed back then. Not to change her, but to accept her as she was, and to help her in healthier ways of living.

Toga was glad. Uraraka was truly the angel she needed in her dark times. And she listened to Uraraka's own story, amazed at her selflessness. The blonde always thought of herself first, not caring about the families of those she killed, not caring about anything. Their meeting changed everything, as she began to care for someone other than herself. And maybe even more than herself. The League became a family, but Uraraka was so much more than that. Thanks to her, she got access to bagged blood, not needing to kill to access her needs.

She began to see outside of herself, how lively the world around her was. And while beat up people were still positively attractive, Uraraka didn't need that. She was a beacon of light, of love, without a drop of blood to be seen. She was perfectly beautiful, in her own way. Toga swore to herself that she would make her see that.

Toga was always surprised to see how insecure Uraraka was in her own body, in her own abilities. While the brunette appeared confident in battle, she always believed she was weak. She thought her quirk was not good enough, that her body was not strong enough. The number of times Toga had to get her when she was nearly passed out from training was way too high. Toga made sure to tell her how much she loved her, how perfect she was to her. She knew it would never fix Uraraka's insecurities, but she did her best to let her know how amazing she was. In all shapes or forms, Uraraka was who Toga always aspired to be.

And that's what surprised Uraraka. She couldn't believe that someone as beautiful as Toga would want to be her. The blonde was confident in her own body, but the way she wanted to become Uraraka... That shocked her. Uraraka was so positive, kind, and generous. Toga was selfish, brutal and aggressive. She wished she could be more like her girlfriend. So selfless, so unique, with a quirk that didn't ruin her life.

They helped comfort each other in their flaws, in their qualities. The other represented the whole world to them. And though they shared their insecurities, they also shared their good times. Toga understood that friends could love you for who you really were, and not a mask. Uraraka understood that villains were humans too, and cared about each other the way heroes did. They were just broken by society, and turned to villainy to make a place for themselves.

And while Uraraka wished she could have known Toga earlier, before she was faced with her ultimate breakdown, to help her through it, and so she didn't become a villain... She loved her nonetheless. Her whole self. She loved her messy bangs, she loved her obsession with blood. She loved her cat-like eyes, she loved the knives she always carried. She loved her signature blush, she loved the way she drank her little blood patch. And while she may have been repulsed by it in the past, she just adored her fully.

Toga wished she had known Uraraka earlier, too. But she didn't regret being a villain. She loved the way she was free, free to do whatever she wanted. But most importantly, she loved her girlfriend. She loved her soft brown hair, she loved the way she cried in her arms. She loved her squishy cheeks, she loved how tired she was after training. She loved her strong arms, she loved her ragged looks after battle. And while she may have loved people for how bloody they were in the past, she just adored her fully.

No matter how the other looked, how they acted, they loved each other. It was a pure, innocent love, as they cradled into each other's arms, laughing happily. It was accepting, it was honest. Whether it was at shopping sprees, at sleepovers, or facing each other in battle, their love never wavered. It only grew, as they appreciated each other more and more.

No matter what side they were on... As long as they had each other, everything would be okay.
