SEVEN'S POV

"I seriously wish we could get out of this hell-hole." I croaked, my throat parched.

El just nodded her head sleepily and yawned.

"You look tired, I'll let you get back to your sleep so you can be fully charged for tomorrow." I offer, tightly smiling at my best friend.

"Thank you," she whispered before her body became a mist and then disappeared.

I sighed in the silence of my dream, looking down at my reflection in the water. I pull a forced smile at reflection before drawing myself out of my dream and falling back into a normal sleep so that I could rest properly.

El and I hadn't had much to talk about lately, so we just enjoyed each other's company in a comfortable silence most nights. In the past, we had discussed ways to escape but all had failed. Whenever we tried to escape, Dr. Brenner's guards had always caught us and tortured us with electrifying staffs. They didn't damage us too bad, but they bloody hurt.

SEVEN'S POV

Today was boring, like always. I hadn't done much work for Brenner in the past few days, although I couldn't say the same for El. Apparently, he had her find a monster of some sort. What type? I do not know, and quite frankly I don't care.

I was resting on my bed in my bedroom, which was more of a cell room if I'm being honest. White-tiled walls and floors surrounded me. My bed was uncomfortable, but I was used to it at this point. It was a quite small bed, but I was also small so it didn't bother me. The only entertainment I had other than my powers, which I wasn't allowed to use unless under supervision, was drawing. I had a small box of colored crayons and blank paper. I loved to draw, and I was quite good at it in the past but I'd probably need to catch up my skills to be above average again seeing as I hadn't drawn in like 5 years.

Flashback

"And they never had to worry about the big, bad wolf again," he said, resting my favorite book on the nightstand next to my hospital bed.

He turned back to look at me, laying next to me on my bed. "Good night kiddo," he said softly, a wavering smile plastered on his face.

I smiled back and hugged my father before getting comfortable and drifting off into a light sleep.

5 Minutes Later

"-I fear she won't make it," says a familiarly disturbing voice.

Sobs break out quietly as I heard someone leave the room and I fell deeper into my sleep, blocking out the sounds around me.

End Flashback

The three little pigs... ha. I remember that story, and how my father would read it to me when I was sad. My father! Not Dr. Brenner, someone else. I still can't remember what they look like but I can picture their blue eyes clearly in my mind.

I'm going to draw the three little pigs... I decided, visioning three small pigs wearing farmer's clothes.

As I drew and colored in, more memories of my father reading to me came to my mind as if all my memories were being unlocked. When I was almost finished with the last pig, I heard the alarms blaring overhead.

I instantly flinched, turning towards face my door as it unlocked.

I feared it might be Dr. Brenner or one of his guards, but when the door finally creaked open, I saw none other than Eleven standing in my doorway, her nose lightly bleeding and her face facing downwards.

"El... what's going on?" I questioned in panic as she ran into the room, grabbing my arm, and pulling me down the halls.

"It's in the lab. It escaped," she answered, confusing me further.

"What El? What escaped?" I asked, worry now flowing through every inch of my body.

"The monster." She replied, her voice slightly trembling. "We need to leave, now. It's our chance to escape, but if we're not quick it will get to us, find us, and kill us."

"What-" I whimpered, as I ran to keep up with El.

We made our way to the basement level where the breakers are, which for your information are usually heavily guarded. "We have to climb out through these pipes," El explains, as she removes a hidden grate from the wall. I nod in agreeance as we start to crawl up the pipes, trying to reach the surface.

Soon we start to crawl horizontally, indicating that we have reached the surface and we just need to keep crawling to the tunnel's end.

After about 10 minutes of groaning, huffing, and puffing our way through the disgusting pipes, we finally reached the outside fresh air.

El climbed out of the tunnel first, still in her hospital gown. She offered her hand out to me as I gratefully took it and tried to climb out of the pipe.

I successfully climbed out of the pipe, but on my way out a small piece of my hospital gown rips on some loose wires surrounding the pipe.

"Oh well, we'll change out of these gowns soon," I said reassuringly.

El nodded and slightly smiles at me before we make our way through the woods, finding shelter under a large log, creating enough shade for the both of us.

"We'll find some warmer clothes tomorrow, but for now, let's sit in the back corner of our little shelter so we can be as warm as possible," I said with a smile as I positioned myself in the warmest part under the log next to Eleven.
