SEVEN'S POV

Pink, yellow, blue, orange, aqua, and yellow.

Those were the colors I could see, lining the walls with a subtle glow. There were about 50 glowing orb thingies... I didn't know what they were, so I walked up to one to get a better look.

Lightbulbs...

Why would Joyce put lightbulbs everywhere? Honestly, I've got no clue, so don't ask me. I mean, maybe it's for decoration? Although based on watching her this morning, she doesn't seem like the kind of person to string lights all around her house simply for decoration. Maybe this is more than that...

No matter, I probably shouldn't waste any time. I need to set up somewhere for me to stay tonight. I knew that there was nowhere in the house that I could stay unseen. I mean, even a wardrobe in an empty room wouldn't work. But... I think I know where could be safe... or rather, where will be safe.

I wasted no time grabbing a fuzzy blue blanket that was neatly folded in a basket. I then ran into the furthest bedroom to my right to get some pillows and a doona. After that, all I needed was something sturdy to hold the heavy doona above my head.

Those chairs will do... I thought whilst grabbing three dining chairs from a small round table.

Then, I made my way down the hall and into the same bedroom as before. I piled all the blankets and pillows onto the bed and set the three chairs spaced about a meter apart and faced them all back to back. I proceeded to place the heavy doona on top of them, weighing it down with the three of the pillows. Now, there was a rounded triangle cubby sort of thing... Well, ... at least it's sturdy.

I ducked my head inside, the fuzzy blanket and remaining pillow in hand. I carefully laid the blanket down and put the pillow at the head of the fort. There were still a few gaps I wanted to fill to make it cozier, so I went into the last room and grabbed a throw and two pillows from the bed.

When I returned to the room, I put the pillows in the cubby, just filling in some gaps. I then put the throw over the top of the fuzzy blanket, as something to lay over me whilst I slept. I smiled at myself for my hard work that wasn't noticeable from the doorway of the room as it was behind the slightly risen bed.

As I stood there, admiring my work something caught my eye. It was a small drawing hanging on the wall. It read: 'Will the Wise' and had a picture of a wizard. I figured this was Will's house and Will's room, and Joyce was his Mom and the Camera-man was... well he was too young to be his Dad and too old to be a close friend... so I'd say brother? Possibly? I don't know the facts but it's just a guess.

I started making my way to the kitchen so I could stock up on food to store in my new blanket fort. I was about halfway down the hall when I heard the front door creak open. Without hesitation, I quickly scrambled my way back to Will's room and into the fort.

"Mom?" I heard a deep voice ask. "Mo-" There it was again, but this time it was cut off by something. A muffled "Woahhh..." was all I could hear through the thick layer of blankets.

It didn't take me long to realize he was talking about the lights strung across the walls.

I held my breath when they walked past the room I was in, but exhaled when they walked into the room opposite Will's. I couldn't get a good look at the person, not even the height. Just the dark brown hair atop his head.

After 30 seconds, the figure re-emerged, this time not letting me see any of them through the gaps in the blankets. I heard a door slam shut and footsteps receding from what seemed to be outside. That's twice I've been caught off-guard, let's not let it happen again...
