SEVEN'S POV

As we make our way deeper and deeper into the woods I realize that the boy is starting to slow down his running pace so I decided to come to a halt to catch my breath.

"What was that?" I ask, still out of breath.

"The monster?" He asked, making me give him a 'Are you serious?' look.

"What else would I be talking about" I joke, only receiving a frown from him.

We go silent for a few minutes, our heavy breathing filling the quiet air. I decide to break the silence by asking, "What is this place? Who are you?"

"I'm Will Byers, and this... this is like... another dimension. A darker and colder version of our world." He answered, leaving me glancing at him with an odd stare. Then he continued, "I've been here for about a day. That thing couldn't find me at 'Castle Byers'. When you showed up I was so tired I didn't even acknowledge the fact that I could be back in the real world; I honestly thought you were my mother at first."

I stare at him wide-eyed. What is happening... I mean to be completely honest, I'd kind of already accepted that there were monsters and superpowers in this world. I mean, for godsakes, I can make blue flames in my hand. But then it hit me; I can make blue flames in my hand!

"Well if this place is cold and dark, then its weakness is probably fire. It's bright, hot..." I trailed off, leaving Will to answer me.

"It's worth a shot is it not."

"Yeah. I have an idea, but we will need to wait until morning." I reply, giving him a half-smile, despite the situation we were in.

"Morning or not, this place is about this dark any time of day." He responds, starting to lose hope.

"Oh... that's okay it'll still work in the dark but I'm tired anyway, let's go to sleep, we'll need as much energy as possible," I explain, motioning to a large tree that would be safe to sleep under.

We make our way to the tree, sitting side by side. Wow... this is super awkward. "Do you mind if We cuddle?" Will asked, his voice trembling in the cold.

This caught me completely off guard and I just let out a "err-" before he says,

"Oh no, I just meant so we can stay warm. Sorry if I confused you."

I nod my head realizing that is what's best. I sink into the dirt and rest my head on his chest, whilst wrapping my arms around his cold and damp body. He then puts his arms around me, trying to keep me warm. At this moment I thought of the possibility of creating a small fire to keep myself and Will warm.

WILL'S POV

I jerk my head up to look at this mysterious girl as she stirred and quietly sat up. "Is something wrong?" I ask, confused slightly.

"No no, I just have an idea." She replied, smiling as she held out her hand and closed her eyes.

I had no idea what she was doing but I just stared at her hand and waited in anticipation. I watched as she opened her eyes, them now glowing a dark blue. "I- wh-" I start but cut myself off as I get mesmerized by the now blaring flame in her hand.

"You're hand is on fire..." I explain, but she just nods as the flame grows.

SEVEN'S POV

I can feel blood trickling down my nose. Before long the flame in my palm had grown significantly. I placed the glowing flare down onto a bare patch on the slimy grass. With this, I wiped my nose bleed with my sleeve before snuggling back into Will, my arms around his small body with my head against his chest. I fell asleep watching the mesmerizing flame, and before long I felt an extra weight on my head; Will. He had fallen asleep whilst resting his head upon mine.

ELEVEN'S POV

I continued to make my way through the bush. I had been trying to get as far away from 'Benny's Burgers' for hours on end. About 30 minutes ago the weather took a turn for the worst, harsh winds, heavy rain, and even lightning. I was freezing and the wet weather made me feel miserable, all along with the fact that I had lost Sev, and I had no idea where she was.

"I really hope you're okay Sev..." I whisper as my voice starts to crack and rain falls down my face, making my tears invisible.

I see a flashlight in the distance and think Sev might be the one holding the flashlight. I get closer to the light and realize it's not just a flashlight... it's two, and there are three people... all around my height. "Sev?" I ask, my voice silenced by the pouring rain. "Did you guys hear that?" A boy asks. I stand behind a tree when they look my way.

Definitely not Sev...

They turn their flashlights away from me and face the other way, allowing me to stand up next to them. "Hear what?" Another boy asks. I didn't really have anything to fear. They were no older than me, plus, I can do things... things they can't do.

"I didn't hear any-" the first boy starts, but pauses as he beams a flashlight directly into my eyes, making me squint a little.

"What the-" the third boy says, staring wide-eyed at me, looking me up and down.

I could tell. I could tell what they were thinking.

Who is this?
Why is their head shaved?
Why are they in the rain? By themself?
No flashlight?
Boy or girl?
Where did they come from?
Are they alone?

I thought of all the questions they would want to ask me. I wasn't going to answer any of them of course.

ELEVEN'S POV

"How about we call you El? Short for Eleven?" Mike asks, a sideways smile plastered on his face. I look up at him and nod "Yes," I respond, giving him a tight-lipped smile. With that, he pulled the doona down in front of me, covering me from sight. I left out a sad sigh, knowing that Sev could be anywhere right now...
