"Y/n I need you in squad 6" the commander said, pointing to the squad containing two other people in your year, none of which you knew personally."Yes, sir" "Wait, sir. Is it possible to move her to squad three?" Reiner said, chasing after the commander as he walked away. You followed."No, we need them there""Reiner I'll be ok." you say reassuring him."Sir, please." He says, practically begging."Cadet Braun is it? I'm going to say this now and you're going to remember it. I don't give a fuck about you or who you feel you need to protect. We are doing what's best for the mission, not what's best for you. Get to your squad Cadets.""... yes sir." He said, defeated. There was a brief silence before he bent down to your height and wrapped his arms around you. His arms enveloping you in warmth, you hugged him back, not saying a word. He squeezed you harder before letting you go and standing up. "I'll see you later, sunshine." He said, painting on a smile. As fake as it was, you knew it was just to reassure you. You nodded and made your way over to your group.

"Alright, squad 6. Your job is to keep those big bastards away from the civilians. At all costs, dedicate your life to the cause, soldiers. I wish you luck." A veteran said before zipping off the roof they had stationed you and your squad at.

You looked around, taking in the damage. You didn't see any titans yet, but you could tell they had been there. They had ravaged through the houses, and the roads were littered with the remains of food stalls.

"Look over there, a 10 meter coming our way," the brown-haired boy in your squad said. A few roads ahead, you could see a bit of sickening yellow hair bobbing along. Within a moment, your squad mates were fearlessly charging it. How could they do that? Though you shook relentlessly, you followed them. The sound of your boots against the tile of the roof reminding you of the fact that you are literally running towards your death. You watched the others take to the air just as the titan came into sight.

You paused, the titan looked up at you. "It can't be.." its eyes bore into your soul, resurfacing memories you tried so desperately to suppress over the years. You couldn't move. All you could see was your dad being eaten alive, you running while being tormented by his screams. This is the titan that ate your father. The flashbacks pulled a veil over your eyes, your awareness of what was happening slipping through your trembling fingers.

The others began their attack as you simply watched from the roof, unable to move. "Y/N WHAT ARE YOU DOING!" You watched him look at you, turning his focus away from the titan. Just as you opened your mouth to respond, a large hand wrapped around his body. You watched the terror flood over his face. He struggled against it as the monster raised him up to its mouth. The other cadet in your group, a petite blonde girl, rushed to save him but the titan simply grabbed her with its other hand.

You just watched as it brought them to its mouth, in between its teeth. Blood sprayed as their craniums crushed under the force of the beast's jaw. They didn't even have time to scream. After the beast was done devouring the poor souls; it turned its attention towards you.

Its hunger would never be satisfied, would it. Selfish bitch. Still, why didn't you help them? "I'm a coward," you told yourself through gritted teeth. You couldn't save your Father, you couldn't save your squad mates. You felt helpless. Once again, you were a small child staring the beast in its eyes. It was just like that day, only this time you would not run. You were going to kill this devil spawn.

The titan raised its hand to grab you, clutching your swords you prepared to fight. Lifting your feet to run towards the titan, you let out a determined yell.

Everything went black. A shriek filled your throat as pain seared through your entire body. Your eyes opened to meet the eyes of a different titan. You were in the mouth of a titan who seemed to be running. Warmth covered your body as the blood seeped into your clothes from your side, which was being punctured by the titan's teeth. Adrenaline and shock took the pain and left you with only the warmth and the sky, which was currently spinning. For only a second you thought, "I could die like this. I wouldn't have to deal with anything anymore. I could have a nightmare free sleep... Forever." The thought puts your face at ease. You began to accept it. Wait. Your eyes widened as you realized what was happening, what you just thought.

Lifting your hand with struggle, you took your sword to the titan's cheek. If you could just cut its jaw open. With some pressure, the cheek cut open a bit. The titan's eyes lowered to look at you. "AUUUUUGGGGGHHHHHH" you bellowed as it sunk its teeth deeper into your side. Your body burned as you sliced through its cheek, forcing it to drop its jaw just enough for you to use your odm gear to fly out. Your eyes blurred from pain and blood loss, but you had to keep going. Zipping your way through the houses, you lost the titan. You don't know how long you flew for, but eventually you saw a group of people gathered on the roof of a house.

"Is that? Y/N OVER HERE!" you heard Jean call waving to you. Clumsily you landed on the roof, stumbling a few times clutching your side. A few people rushed towards you, but you were too woozy to see who it was.

The next time your eyes opened, you were being bandaged by Jean, Bertolt, Reiner, and Marco. Worry plagued their faces. You let out a measly "hi." They all looked up at you. You were still on the roof. Looking around, you saw a ton of people from the cadet corp, just sitting there? "What's happening?" Jean explained they were supposed to evacuate, but they were out of gas. You just nodded. Your brain was still fuzzy, but you could understand the situation
