The next morning, Sumia was in Chrom's tent. They were chatting about moving out soon. Sumia sat on Chrom's bed while he studied the map.
"Hm, perhaps I should call Robin in here to advise our next move." Chrom said to himself, rubbing his chin.
"You think so? It can't be that hard to figure out where we're going next, can it?" Sumia asked twirling her hair.
"You'd think so, but we need to take certain paths to avoid any conflict. Robin always knows where to go."
"Then you can go ask him. I was hoping we would get to marching soon, the weather here is just awful!" she crossed her arms.
Chrom laughed, "I agree. The rain has been heavy." he stood up, "I'll go get Robin now." he tried to walk out, but Frederick was walking in at the same time. They bumped into each other. "Milord! Excuse me, I should have made myself known before entering."
"It's all right, Frederick. What is it?"
"Well, I went into Robin's tent this morning to ask him what routes we should take. However, he wasn't there. I asked around but nobody has seen him."
"Are you certain he's not just in the bath house? Doing inventory? Walking around the campsite to watch for any Risen?" he tried to remain calm, but his voice was becoming anxious.
"I haven't been looking around camp, Milord, just asking around. However, I will look if you wish."
"Please do, Frederick. Find him soon, I also have questions about our next move that I need to ask him."
"I will find him as fast as I can. I'll go look around further from the campsite. He couldn't go off so far on his own, so make sure everyone is packed and ready to leave so we can move out quickly."
"I will. Thank you."
Frederick asked around again, but nobody has seen him. He checked the bath house, barracks, but no trace of him was there. He sighed, this wasn't how he planned his day. Robin probably ran off to do some research before planning where they would go. Frederick decided to search around camp before giving up for the day. It was muddy, he almost sank in it walking around. In the far distance, he saw a familiar coat laying in the mud.
"Robin left his coat here...?" he muttered to himself, stepping closer. Then he saw his white hair. "Oh gods." his eyes became wide with fear.
He ran up in a full sprint, leaving mud prints. He approached Robin, who was laying face down. Frederick kneeled down and propped him up against his knee. "Robin?" he called his name, giving him a slight slap on the cheek. No response, he looked at his body for any wounds and noticed his clothes were soaked in blood.
Frederick picked him up very slowly and walked towards the camp, careful not to shake him too much.
As he entered the camp, he gained the attention of the other Shepherds. Their concerned gazes made Frederick walk faster to Chrom's tent.
"Milord! He walked in with Robin in his arms."
"Oh, gods! What in the hell happened? Is that blood? Why is he covered in mud?"
Frederick laid down Robin in Chrom's bed, "I found him laying face down in the mud, I don't know what happened to him. It appears he's injured. I think we should look."
"Sumia, please go tell the other Shepherds." Chrom said as he approached Robin's body. He slowly removed his coat before noticing his stab wound. He gasped. "Robin..What were you doing out? What happened to you..." He slumped down to the floor.
"Milord!" Frederick picked him up quickly. "We have to tend to him, he's still breathing...I'll go get Lissa." Frederick ran out quickly.
Chrom caressed Robin's cheek lovingly. "I won't let anything or anyone hurt you ever again. I swear it."
___
Robin opened his eyes, he was in Chrom's tent, he recognized how much bigger it was than most. What was he doing again? Lightning was striking...the thunder was loud..Sumia was there?
Pain erupted in his side, what was happening? He winced, clutching it tightly. He noticed it was wrapped up. Did he get hurt? He didn't remember what happened. He tried to sit up but his side kept him down, he saw Chrom sleeping at the desk.
"C..Chrom." he said in a weak voice, Chrom remained asleep.
"Chrom..." he said a little louder.
Chrom awoke and bolted to Robin's side. He wrapped his arms around him.
"Oh gods, Robin! You're finally awake..." he sighed happily. "What..happened?" Robin asked.
"You tell me! Frederick found you a little ways from the camp...You have a stab wound on your side, so don't move around a lot, okay? I'm so glad you're here now, I was so worried about you."
"I.." He was so happy to see Chrom in that moment. He stuck out his hand and he grabbed it tightly, squeezing it.
"You don't have to remember everything now. Just sleep a lot, all right? I want you to get better."
"...I love you, Chrom."
"I love you too, Robin. I promise that I won't let anything happen to you for as long as I live from now on. You'll always have me by your side."
"That's all I ever wanted." he smiled.
___
"Chrom, can I speak to you?" Sumia walked in, visibly annoyed.
"Sumia! Robin is awake! He doesn't remember what happened, but that's not important now."
Robin saw Sumia, suddenly he got a flash, he saw her with the dagger, the lightning striking, the thunder roaring. He saw her charging at him while he braced himself. He remembered the feeling of shock as she drove the dagger into his side, he felt himself sink to the ground as she walked away.
He screamed.
