A lot of things took a sudden turn in the city of Newstern.
"Is this Ms Brown?" The caller asked. "Yes how can I help you."
"We need you to come to the hospital quickly mam. Everything will be explained once you get here. Were calling from the central hospital." The caller spoke sounding a little bit frustrated but trying to keep their voice calm.
It was like all the lights had been knocked off Jaiden brain. It suddenly stopped working. She heard what the caller said to her but it seemed surreal. "Okay I'll be there in 20 minutes," she said and the caller hung up the phone.
She grabbed her hoodie and keys on the countertop before rushing to her car. Jaiden was still in a maze trying to figure out what the emergency could be because she doesn't have a lot of friends.
When she got to the hospital at eight thirty. She went to the reception. "Hi. Jaden Brown," she said to the receptionist.
"Ohh yes Ms Brown! We've been waiting for you. Please, follow me." The shorter woman began walking in front of Jaiden leading her. "When are you going to tell me what I'm doing here?" Jaiden asked feeling like the receptionist was hiding something.
"The doctor will explain everything to you Ms Brown. It's not my place. Call me Thabitha." The older woman said stretching out her hand in hopes of a handshake.
"I'm sorry to keep you waiting Ms Brown. I'm doctor Šota. Excuse us please Thabitha." He started and Thabitha went back to the reception.
"So your girlfriend was brought in here about 2 hours ago. Actually the ambulance brought her here and she was in a bad shape." Girlfriend? Jaiden asked herself because the last time she checked, she was single.
"I don't have a girlfriend. Anyway why was I called?" She asked. "Because you were the last person she called according to her call log."
"What? I don't even have a girlfriend!"
"Miss Brown, that's how you numbers were saved on her phone."
"Then how did you know-"
"That's not the big issue here. We just called you to take some of her belongings and maybe call her family for the funeral." The doctor interrupted.
A funeral? Jaiden thought. To say she was confused would be an understatement. She was completely lost. "Can I see this person you're talking about? Take me to her now."
Dr Šota lead her to her ward. He opened the door and invited her inside. What shocked Jaiden the most was that whoever that person the doctor was talking about was covered in a white sheet.
"Are you ready?" The doctor asked. "Yes. Go on. Uncover her." Jaiden said thinking that it might be a person she does not know. Dr Šota uncovered the body and the silence in the room grew thicker. Jaiden got closer to make sure that her eyes were not fooling her.
"No! No! No! No! No! What is this? No!" Jaiden began screaming. "What is her name? Is this really her?"
"She said her name was Leesah."
"Oh no! No! When- how did- Oh fucking hell!" She chanted around the room. She could not believe what she was seeing. Leesah's lifeless body lying on the bed. Her body full of bruises like she was in a pool of purple, red and blue paint.
