Part 5- Surprise Visit

The blue sky was dotted with fluffy white clouds as the sun rays hit Jean's eyes through the window. Slowly she opened her eyes, fixed her vision through the lights and found her face was only an inch away from Diluc's face. They were facing each other and her head was laying on his arm while his other arm gently placed on her tiny waist on top of the cover. Diluc was still sound asleep. She stared deeply into his charming face. His fair cheeks, his neat eyebrows, his soft lips and... his fluffy hair. He is... quite handsome.

As far as Jean had known Diluc over the years, same like other girls in the city, she admitted that Diluc was a handsome gentleman. But she didn't know he was this handsome. The thought of that made her heart beat faster. She couldn't help herself but to move her hand to his soft loosen hair and gently touched it.

Diluc suddenly frowned and groaned softly as he felt someone was touching his hair and slowly opened his eyes and found Jean was staring at him, an inch away from his face, blush formed on her cheeks. He stared into her glimmer ocean eyes and without thinking twice, he pulled her closer and placed a kiss on her forehead. His sudden action made her eyes widened but she didn't push him away. The kiss wasn't long but it took a moment before Diluc pulled himself and locked their eyes together. He carved her a warm smile. Silent took the moment as the two stared into each other's eyes, hearts were beating calmly as they tried to understand the new feelings they felt right now. It was warm, happy and excited at the same time as the urge to embrace each other was strong and before he could touch her face, a sudden knocking on the door was heard.

They both turned to the door and wondered who that might be. Diluc got up and walked towards the door and opened it. There was a man, wearing a long dark blue robe, stood in front of the door. Diluc remembered him. He was one of the workers here. Two nights ago, Diluc asked him if there were any spare clothes for him and Jean to change. "I'm sorry for disturbing you at this early hour sir, but these ladies wanted to see you and your partner," the man said and stepped aside, revealing the three familiar women. Diluc didn't correct him but he was shocked by women's sudden appearance.

Jean slowly straightened herself as she sat on the bed. She loosened her robe to check the condition of her wounds and surprisingly, unlike before, she only felt a slight pain on her shoulder when she moved her arm instead of a massive pain. She turned her head to the door and saw Diluc was standing still in front of the door. "Is there something wrong, Diluc?" she asked when suddenly she saw a familiar figure pushed him aside and ran towards her before jumped and hugged her tightly. "Barbara?!"

Barbara hugged her tightly on the bed. "Sister! You're fine! Thank you, Lord Barbatos," Barbara said, tears running down from her eyes. "Sucrose told me you were injured badly and Master Diluc brought you here to get some treatment. I was so worried about you so that's why I came here as soon as possible," Barbara explained as she pulled herself from the hug.

"We are sorry for coming here unnoticed but Barbara insisted to check on you," said a familiar voice.

"Lisa? You're here too?" Jean's eyes widened when she saw her closest friend entered the room.

Lisa chuckled. "Not only me, but the Honorary Knight is tagged along too," she said and turned her gaze to blonde girl.

"Hi, Master Jean," Lumine greeted her.

"You girls..." Jean lost her words. She was touched by their sudden visit.

Barbara held Jean's hands. "Sister, are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere? Sucrose said your shoulder was severely injured so did your abdomen. Can you move?" Barbara asked her continuously.

Jean gripped Barbara's hands gently. "Barbara, I'm fine. A specialist had treated me and gave me medicines. 'Severely injured' is too much of a word but I can move now. Thanks to Diluc, he had taken care of me for the past two days," Jean reassured her.
