Both Diluc and Jean were walking back from Wangshuu Inn to Mondstadt after Jean convinced him that she was ready to be in the battlefield. At first, Diluc wanted to stop her but Jean being Jean. As they walked around the hill, they heard a crying voice. They both stopped and turned their heels to the voice's direction, definitely that was a child's voice. While they were running, they saw a young girl was running towards them.
"Aaaa! Aaaa!" the little girl screamed while pointing her finger to her back.
Jean knelt in front of her. "Are you okay? Are you hurt? Why are you crying?" Jean asked her. The girl kept on sobbing and made weird noises as she tried to speak. She kept on pointing to a certain direction. "What? What's wrong?" Jean was confused with the little girl's actions. She didn't understand her.
"She's muted," Diluc told her. "There's must be something's going on there," Diluc turned his head to the direction. The little girl nodded and glad Diluc understood her. She then pulled Diluc's hand, asking him to go there. Diluc turned to Jean and they both nodded. Diluc lifted up the little girl in his arms and they both sprinted to the pointed direction. They didn't know what happened but as they were running, they happened to hear a loud crying voice not far from where they stood. Upon hearing the cry, the little girl tugged Diluc's coat tightly and started to make weird noises while pointing out to the cry's direction. Without wasting anymore time, they went to the direction and found a young boy was tied at a big tree.
"Help," he cried out when he sighted them. Diluc carefully put down the little girl and asked her to hide in the nearest bushes. Jean in the other hand, put a finger on her lips, asking the boy to stay quiet while she observing the area. There were no other hilichurl other than the big mitachurl who was sitting in front of the big tree. Its back was facing them and it still didn't notice their presence. In a second, Jean and Diluc dashed to the mitachurl.
"That's how we found them," Diluc concluded his story.
"In the middle of the woods? How strange," Kaeya commented. He knelt in front of Lucas. "May I ask you something?" he calmly asked. Lucas nodded. "What happened?"
Lucas looked down while gripping hard his sister's hand. "We were the children from the orphanage. Me and Emma sneaked out to find some fresh herbs for our sick caretaker. We didn't realise we went too deep into the woods and we found a big mitachurl. We tried to run but we lost until the mitachurl caught me but I asked Emma to save herself first," Lucas was trembling. He was so scared with the experience.
Jean hugged Lucas and patted his back. "You're so brave, Lucas," she said, trying to reassure him. "The fact you sacrificed yourself to save your sister, that was the greatest honour," she smiled. Lucas smiled and hugged her back. After a moment, Jean stood up and turned to Kaeya. "Report me everything," she asked in a serious tone.

Jean sat on her chair while rubbing her temple. The voices in front of her just won't stop arguing with each other.
"As I was saying, we need to send out more knights to the east side as the Guild witnessed a lot of camps out there,"
"We can't risk anymore knights! You've seen a lot of them are injured. And we need to guard the city,"
"The city is safe now. We have few strong vision holders around here,"
"Please, instead of east, we need to focus on the west again. The knights reported they had sighted some abyss mages camped there,"
"Everyone, calm down,"
"Ridiculous!"
The people in front of her keep on arguing. Jean sighed lowly. Her office was now filled with loud voices and it made her had a headache. "Everyone, please settle down for a bit. Master Jean here just recovered from her injuries and surely, she doesn't want to hear 'arguments' right after her recovery," Kaeya spoke up across the room. Jean nodded at him as thanks.
