Once we got out of the building and started heading for the maze Rachel started talking about her history here and how she became a runner

"In the beginning there where a bunch of us who wanted to be a runner so we had to do courses and obstical courses and a lot of running, we did more running in training then we do out in the maze" she said

"So I take it you won" I asked her "no" she replied "I came fourth" "so how did you become keepers of the runners"

"The first time the keeper of the runners went out he went by her self and said she'll only be gone for a little while, but she didn't come back, so the person that came second went out to look for her but she was gone and so the third person went out to look for them both but all 3 of them never returned"

"So since I was the best out of the rest I became the keeper and that was the first time I saw someone die, even though I didn't see it for myself I heard there screams that night and the grievers sound"

"That's why I vowed the if I go in the maze with anyone I will try my hardest to bring them home, and that's why we thought of the rule of you can't go beyond those walks and you can't go in and try to save someone"

I was in shock and didnt know what to say "wow" is all that I could thing of

By the time we had finished talking about Rachel's history we arrived at the foot of the maze with the doors still closed

I thought in my head 'turn around and look at the maze'

I looked over to where newt was still in my bed but he rolled over and saw me we both stared at eachother then the doors started opening

"You ready greenie" Rachel said "lets do it" I said back 'good luck' I heard newt say in my head

Then I turned around and started running and following Rachel
