I hate that I love you...

Chapter 5- The Call

Hiiiiii um I'm writing in study hall again I'm bored and these people are weird like I'm weird but they take weird to a whole new level lmaoo. So I stick to myself anyways enjoyyy.

I opened the door to see a smiling Veronica I smile back and let her in.

This is weird, I knew it would be.

"So do you want to watch movies or something" I ask.

"Sure" she smiles, and I set it up.

We watch The Shining because why not, it's a good classic.

When the movie ends she gets a call from and unknown number. She picks up and I watch her face go from excited to what might be horror.

I don't know.

She holds up her finger and steps outside.

I'm kind of worried.

I've never seen her so upset about something.

I could tell she quickly tried to hide it, but I caught it.

I wonder what's going on, maybe it's something with Archie.

But what would he do?

It was an unknown number; surely he would've used his regular phone. So I wonder who it is and why she was so upset.

There was a knock on the trailer door.

I opened it to see Veronica clearly crying, but trying to hide it.

I didn't know what to do because I've never seen her like this.

I don't want to impose, but I feel really bad.

"Is everything alright?" I ask.

"Y-yeah I just need to head home" she says sniffling.

"I can tell you're not alright" I look at her.

"It's fine, nothing I can't deal with" she offers a fake smile and grabs her bag.

"Wait just talk to me, maybe it'll be better if you talked to someone who knows your situation and won't give you pity" I smile a bit.

"Maybe" she sniffles.

"Okay so then let's sit down and I'll just listen anything you're not comfortable with sharing skip it" I wait for her to start.

"Um so the call. It was my mom, they're planning on letting her out soon. It's depending on the judge, but she told me that she's been jumped a few times by ghoulies" her voice cracks a bit.

"It's ok you can continue" I pat her shoulder comfortingly.

"We think it's my dad's doing. The ghoulies still work for him and he told us we would pay for him going to jail" she's full on crying now.

I don't know whether to hug her or not.

I know a way to help her and her mom, it'll be an easy fix and everyone will be happy, minus the ghoulies.

"Hey it's ok don't cry. I have a plan to help your mom" I hug her and she hesitates, but eventually gives into the hug.

She's  a good hugger.

"There's serpents where your mom is, I can make some calls and have your mom under their protection" I state my plan.

"Oh my god really?" She wipes her tears and looks at me with a hopeful look.

"Yes let me call Toni real quick. Don't worry, I won't tell her about your mom. I'll just ask her about the favor" I smile and quickly dial Toni. She answers shortly after, we talk for a little bit and she gets the word out. We should hear back from the jailed serpents to see if they'll help.
