Chapter 11- Not so Healthy

I wanna bang my head on a wall:) I was told my phone would be getting fixed today, but instead it wasn't. I just keep getting my hopes up and then they get crushed.

She jumps and turns around quickly, clearly not expecting anyone to be in her room.

"Jughead?!" she looks at me.

I take her appearance, she's skinner and pale.

I don't think she's been eating anything like that.

Her eyes are red and puffy, she had dark circles under eyes, and she looks exhausted.

"Veronica what is going on? What aren't you talking to any of us?" I question, walking towards her a bit, but not to close to make her uncomfortable.

"I couldn't face anyone after what they did. I don't want to hear the rumors, I don't won't to hear the whispers, and I don't want to see them" she looks away and sits on her bed. I go to sit next to her she turns with tears in her eyes.

My heart just breaks for her.

"Veronica no one at school is talking about it. They know the truth, but they aren't saying anything, well about you anyway. You can't avoid Archie and Betty forever they'll be around, but I'll be here with you when that time comes" I grab her hand and plant a soft kiss.

Her lips curls into a soft smile.

That smile makes my heart flutter and beat faster.

What is happening to me?

"Thanks it means a lot, how's everyone?" she asks.

Even when she is at her worst she'll ask about everyone else.

How did I not realize how amazing this girl was before?

"Great and worried about you" I say, looking at her.

"I didn't think anyone would worry too much" she sighs laying back on her bed and staring at the ceiling.

"Veronica everyone worries about you, even people who aren't your friends. You know even Archie was worried, he wanted me to tell you that you guys need to talk, but we kind of ignored him" I rub the back of my neck.

"I don't plan on talking to him for a bit" she says.

"Yeah I knew that" I sigh.

I wanted to bring up the fact that she clearly wasn't eating much, but I didn't want to offend or hurt her.

"Penny for your thoughts?" She asks, sitting up and looking at me.

"Huh?" I break out of my daydream and look to her.

"What's going on in that nerdy brain of yours?" She asks again, ruffling my hair, making me laugh.

"Um okay so look I'm not mentioning this to hurt you or to make fun, but I have a question" I look down, then back to her.

"Okay.." she trails off.

"Have you been eating?" I ask.

"Uh of course..." she looks at me, then looks down, and starts playing with the elephant necklace Cheryl and Toni gave her. I could easily tell she was lying, Veronica is a good liar, but once you get to know her you notice the little things she does.

"Veronica that's a big lie. One I can see you haven't been eating and two I can tell when you're lying" I cross my arms.

"How do you know when I'm lying?" She challenges, furrowing her brows.
