Hey! Warning! There is mention of Ross x Roy at the end of this chapter. Ross is seven and Roy is six. If you don't like that then don't read this chapter. It's just them talking, nothing happens. Plus if anything does happen it would be fluff only. If you're fine with that then enjoy.
The next morning Ross and Robert woke up somewhat early. It was still cloudy, but it was just drizzling now instead of storming. They both looked around and realized Roy wasn't there.
"Hey, where's Roy?" Robert asked.
"I dunno." Ross replied, "Maybe he's inside."
"We should check." Robert said standing up. Ross nodded in agreement and got up as well. He walked over to the treehouse door that led to his room. They walked inside and looked around for Roy. He wasn't in Ross' room so they went downstairs. Kevin, Jack, and John were sitting at the table.
"G'morning guys." Jack said.
"Morning dad." Ross said. Robert hid behind Ross when he saw John.
"W-who that?" Robert asked Ross.
"It's okay Robert. John, this is my friend Robert. Robert, this is my dad's friend John. He's the sheriff." Ross said.
"Hello." John said.
"Uhm... h-hi..." Robert replied, waving slightly.
"So where's Roy?" Ross asked.
"Oh, he's in the spare room sleeping." Kevin replied.
"Why is he there? He could've slept in my room." Ross stated.
"He got sick. We let him sleep in the spare room cause it's darker and you guys wouldn't walk in on him sleeping." Jack said.
"Have you checked on him lately?" Robert asked.
"No, I was about to." Kevin responded.
"Can we check on him?" Robert asked.
"Sure, just be quiet in case he's still sleeping." Jack replied. Ross and Robert made their way back upstairs and quietly opened the spare bedroom door. Roy wasn't sleeping. He was just laying there. He saw his two friends and weakly waved at them.
"Hey Roy." Ross said softly, walking over to him. Robert followed Ross.
"How are you feeling?" Robert asked.
"Still sick, but I slept for a while. Oh and I drew a picture of us." Roy said, handing a piece of paper to his two friends.
"Awww I love it!" Robert exclaimed
"I'm gonna hang it up in my room." Ross said.
"Really?" Roy asked.
"Of course!" Ross replied as Roy smiled happily.
"How long have you been awake?" Robert asked.
"I dunno. I don't know what the clock says." Roy said.
"Oh, right, we don't have digital clocks." Ross said.
"It wouldn't matter anyway. I don't know my numbers." Robert said.
"We need to teach you." Ross said. Roy yawned a little.
"Are you still tired Roy?" Robert asked.
"Yeah I am." Roy replied.
"We'll go then so you can sleep." Ross said.
"W-wait! Can you guys stay? Just until I fall asleep?" Roy asked. Ross and Robert nodded.
"We'll stay as long as you need us to." Robert said. Roy smiled and tried to fall back asleep. Eventually he did and his friends left.
-Timeskip a few Hours-
Roy woke up and it was completely silent. The clock wasn't ticking, there was no talking, just silence. He sat up and looked around. It was dark outside and there was now a flashlight on the nightstand next to him. He got up, grabbed the flashlight, and went over to the door. He opened it and walked towards Ross' room. He opened the door but his two friends weren't there. He looked out to the dark treehouse and assumed his friends weren't there either. He began walking down the stairs, flashlight in hand and looked around. No one was there. Kevin, Jack, John, they were all gone. Roy whimpered a bit in fear. He was completely alone in a big, dark, empty house in the middle of the night. Suddenly he heard a nose behind him. He turned and saw Ross facing away from him. Roy sighed in relief.
"Ross, it's so good to see you. Where is everyone?" Roy asked. Ross didn't respond, he just stood there looking away from Roy. Roy took a couple steps towards Ross.
"Hey, Ross, you okay?" Roy asked. Ross suddenly turned around, but this was not Roy's friend anymore. He had red glowing eyes and the sharpest teeth Roy had ever seen. Roy Squeaked in fear and stumbled backwards, dropping his flashlight. Ross walked towards him and Roy began crawling backwards away from Ross. He eventually backed himself into a corner as Ross hissed at him.
"P-please don't h-hurt me. I'm y-your friend!" Roy exclaimed as Ross closed in on him and lunged at him. Roy suddenly woke up screaming. Ross and Robert heard Roy scream and quickly ran upstairs to the spare room with Jack following close behind.
"Roy what's wrong?" Ross asked concerned as he ran over to the boy who was now crying. Roy didn't say anything. He just made grabby hands at Jack and Jack picked him up. Roy sobbed into Jack's shoulder. He was very badly shaken up from his nightmare. Jack and his two friends tried comforting Roy and after a little while Roy was able to calm down.
"Can you tell us what happened, Roy?" Jack asked.
"I-I had a r-really bad n-nightmare." Roy replied sniffling a little.
"What was it about?" Robert inquired.
"Umm... I don't really wanna talk about it. I'll only tell Ross what happened." Roy replied.
"Do you want me and Robert to go so you can tell Ross?" Jack asked. Roy nodded so Jack set him down on the bed and left the room with Robert following him.
"What happened Roy?" Ross asked.
"Ross, you would never hurt me. Right?" Roy questioned.
"Of course not! You're my best friend! How bad was this nightmare?" Ross inquired, now worried more than ever.
"The house was completely silent. It was nighttime and everyone was just gone. Then when I was downstairs I saw you. When you turned to face me you had red eyes and your teeth were the sharpest teeth ever! You were gonna attack me and I woke up screaming." Roy explained, tears filling his eyes again as he explained. Ross pulled Roy into a hug.
"Roy, it was a nightmare. I need you to remember that, okay? I'm still me. My eyes and teeth are normal. No matter what you are my best friend and I would never do anything to intentionally hurt you. I care about you and couldn't imagine hurting you purposefully. That would be awful. You don't need to be afraid of me, okay?" Ross said.
"Afraid of you? I'm not afraid of you. I love you-" Roy replied. He then realized what he said. "I-I mean like a-as a friend..."
"You do realize I wouldn't have cared if you meant the other way, right?" Ross questioned.
"Wait, for serious?" Roy asked. Ross laughed a little at the way Roy phrased his response.
"Yes, Roy. For serious." Ross responded.
"Well then, I did mean it that way!" Roy exclaimed.
