Virion's POV
"Please...please...don't. No. Please." She muttered into my chest.I could feel her putting her weight weighing on me, "Grandpa...don't...please..." She looked up her teary eyes gazed into mine, as if looking into my soul.
"He's-He had some complications..." I said, I couldn't look her in the eye. "Huh...not only did the brat tear open his wound he also nicked one of his mana circuits." I rolled my eyes trying to make it seem not as bad as it actually is.
I rubbed my neck, "Honestly you can't make this up-"
"How bad?" She whispered barely audible, "Huh?"
She took a step back and said, "I said how bad?" Looking at me with a straight face, I know that look. "We're not sure." I breathed.
"I understand." She said calmly, contrary to her reaction just seconds ago.
"Tess he'll be fine. Now why don't you wait with us and don't-"
"Don't, what? You have your ways of handling your emotions I have mine, just, leave me alone." She said in an almost commanding tone.
"Little one-"
"Please. Just, leave me alone." I saw her body shake, I made my hand into a tight fist as she walked away.
I walked back to my seat and sat down, wondering what to do next.
Why did she have to have that look? A pair of cold distant turquoise eyes appeared in my mind, damn it!
"Virion. She just needs space." Cynthia said looking into my eyes, "Alright." I breathed.
I put my head down and closed my eyes, recalling the moment when we learned that Arthur needed surgery.
How Tess cried, for once I found myself tongue tied, I didn't know what to say or do to make her feel better. All I could do was give her a hug.
Those eyes, the moment when you desire to turn off your emotions. It's feels good at first but, it never ends well. It never does.
I continued to wait, hearing the clock tick away every second.
...
..
.
I heard footsteps coming our way, looking up I saw Arthur's doctor in scrubs. Removing her mask. She smiled."Mr and Mrs Leywin, we were able to stitch up his vein and original wound, and with his mana circuit he'll need to be in ICU for a week then we'll move him back to his original room. However we will giving him some sedatives so he doesn't do that again."
"From our estimates when he wakes up in a day or two but he'll still be relatively weak. He'll also only be aloud to use 5% of his mana at most and that's if it's necessary for a few weeks, if not it'll risk him leaking an excess amount of mana-"
Alice went to hug her, "Thank you! Thank you so much for saving my baby!" She cried into the doctor's arms, "I-" she looked at Reynolds for help but he just nodded and smiled, so she just hugged her back.
"Well done Dr Martin." Cynthia commented with a soft smile, I could tell that she was holding back her emotions when she said those words.
"Thank you." I bowed slightly, "If it weren't for you he wouldn't be alive right now, thank you."
When I looked up she started to panic and not knowing what to say back, "Thank you! Thank you so much!" I heard Elijah say as he bowed to her too.
"T-That I-I mean umm, no problem." She smiled awkwardly, poor child she doesn't know how to respond, so I stifled a giggle at her reactions.
