A/N: This is a special chapter from Jason's perspective. Hope y'all enjoy
I walked home feeling...I don't know what. Dejection? Sadness? Jealousy, maybe?
Like an idiot, that's how I feel.
I opened the door, and standing in the kitchen is a tall guy with the same Mediterranean complexion as me. His black hair was messy as usual. The goatee is new.
"Jaxon, what a surprise. I thought were still on that fishing trip."
"We just came back. Besides I had to visit my baby brother. Are you still being a bad boy?" He asked in a mocking tone.
Man, my brother is the coolest but sometimes he can be super annoying.
"I see that you still enjoy teasing me, but you know I'm just trying to be like you."
"When I was your age, I was shoving girls against lockers. Meanwhile you're so polite that you end up late for geometry cause you were holding the door open."
"That was one time. I didn't expect that many people to be exiting the library."
Jaxon laughed as he ruffled my hair "I think it's good that you're such a gentleman. You're better than I ever was."
"Hey, sorry about your divorce." I said changing the subject.
"It was bound to happen, but Y/N and I agreed that it was better this way and we'd just be friends."
"That's good."
"So..." Jaxon leaned in "Did you ask that Lukas boy to the Halloween dance yet?"
I begin to get nervous "Well, here's the thing. I asked my friend Jessica to do it for me-"
Jaxon immediately facepalmed.
I continued
"But something wrong and now Lukas is going with her instead of me."
"Oh, Jason..."
"It's just not fair. I mean, I should be the one dancing the night with him."
"Jason, let me tell you. The person you go with might not be the person you end up with. Take Y/N for example. The night it all started she was going with Leo. Then I came in, drama happened, and we got married...and now we're divorced and I'm dating Leo."
"Jaxon, don't you think it's kind of weird?"
"What?"
"Dating our cousin?"
"STEP-Cousin. Leo is our step-cousin. No blood relations. In fact, we made up that whole me sleeping with my mom story so that no one would know about our fling."
"Oh"
A few minutes of silence pass
"Do you really think I still have a chance with Lukas?"
"Sure I do. At the dance, wait for Jessica to abandon Lukas then swoop in and steal a dance. Works like a charm."
"And if Jessica doesn't abandon Lukas?"
"She'll probably go to the punch bowl or something."
Just then, our step-cousin Leo emerged from the bathroom wearing Jaxon's bathrobe.
"You two were 'fishing' in the house?" I asked half bewildered and half annoyed.
"No, I just needed a shower" Leo responded.
I just walked away stonefaced.
Lukas, get ready for the night of your life.
