"So let me get this straight" Maya said as she paced across my bedroom floor "You we're trying to ask Lukas to the dance for Jason, but Lukas misunderstood and now you're going with him?"

"That's exactly what happened" I murmured through my pillow, of which I was lying facedown on.

"Well, how does it feel?"

"How does what feel?"

"Being on the other end of the love triangle."

"I don't even want to be in this love triangle!" I cry out.

Maya inches closer "So you don't like Lukas?"

"Of course I like him, but as a friend. But I can't tell him or even that might get ruined as well...I thought I was done with all the drama."

Maya began to rub circles on my back.

I couldn't tell her, but the real reason I can't be in this love triangle is because I may have feelings for Maya, but I don't know yet. I mean is it a crush if just hearing her sweet tender voice makes me weak to the knees? Is it a crush if I think a lot about her soft touch and her gentle eyes?

"Jess, I think I may have a plan that'll fix everything."

Now some Oceans 11 style Montaging

First, I will take Jason to the dance as my date

I saw Maya walk up to Jason in the lunchroom and talk to him. I couldn't quite make out what they were saying but when Maya came back she whispered in my ear

"He's in."

Next: The day of the dance. The three of us will meet at Lukas' apartment to pick him up and take him to the community center. Look extra sharp.

Maya and Jason show up to my apartment in their stunning costumes.

Jason wore a rather smart looking steampunk costume. I believe his nerd is showing

And Maya wore a super attractive space pirate costume which may I might say...gay panic.

I look down at my own costume, a simple witch costume. Nothing more, nothing less.

"Well, let's pick up you're date." Jason said.

We walked over to Lukas' apartment, and when we rung the bell, a woman with short blonde hair and ocean baby blue eyes answered.

"Jason, what a surprise." The woman said

"Y/N, I could say the same thing about you"

That woman's name is Y/N?

"What brings you all here?" Y/N asked

"The dance" I responded "I'm Lukas' date."

"Oh, well Lukas is in his room."

"Thanks."

Maya and Jason went ahead to Lukas' room, while I stayed behind.

"So..your name is Y/N?"

"Yes, what of it?"

"Nothing, it's just...my name was once Y/N too."

"Really? Did the curse hit you too?"

"Curse?"

"Yeah, it's said anyone with the name Y/N is doomed to a life of cringey love triangles and toxic partners."

"Holy crap! That explains everything."

I went on to tell Y/N about my life before coming here. I guess since we had that sort of connection I felt like I could tell her.

"I went through something very similar when I was your age. I cringe just thinking about it."

"Did you ever consider changing your name? Killing the last part of your Y/N past?"

"I did, but then I realized that this name is more than just a reminder of who I was. It's also a reminder of how I've changed and how far I've come. I wouldn't give that up for the world."

Maybe there is hope for a former Y/N like me.

Before I could talk with her more, Maya and Jason came out with Lukas who seems to also be wearing a steampunk costume.

Destiny?

We let Y/N take pictures for us, and we start heading to the Halloween dance.

Step 3. Jessica, you will conveniently get dehydrated and go over to the punch bowl leaving Lukas open for Jason to swoop in and steal a dance.

As I watched the scene unfold from the punch table, I felt a sense of pride as Jason takes the first steps by asking Lukas for a dance.

Then I noticed Maya standing all alone and realized, of course now's my chance to swoop in to steal a dance too.

But just as I started to move, I felt an all too familiar hand grip tightly on my shoulder.

"Well, it seems I've finally caught up to my little bluebird."

I turned around to the black emo cut, and the 6'0 guy I thought I'd never have to see again.

"Lyon." I gasped.

"It's been a long time, Y/N."
