I closed the umbrella that Elliot had given me as we boarded a carriage.

"Why are we taking this instead of one of those metal beasts from before?" Keith asked as he got in. He sat down next to Olivia, causing Jason to narrow his eyes at him. Elliot had taken the other spot next to her before the rest of us got in.

I contemplated sitting where Keith sat down, but I preferred not to. My face tended to overheat around Olivia lately.

Jason sighed and sat down next to me.

"You okay, bud?" Elliot asked.

I blinked. Bud? Since when were they friends? I thought that Elliot disliked him.

Jason smiled slightly. "Could be better, but otherwise, yeah."

"Ohh?" Xun said, giving him a mischievous smile. "Is not sitting next to Oli bothering you? Maybe you should switch spots with her, Eli."

Elliot burst into a coughing fit.

"Hey, don't choke on your own saliva!" Isabella said. She reached into her purse and held out a water bottle to him.

"T-thanks," Elliot said, taking it. He glanced up and glared at his brother.

Xun leaned back on his seat and sighed.

What was his aim? To get Elliot to confess?
