Down the trouble off we go

SOME QUESTIONS, SOME ANSWERS

David looked around, his brain still phizzing with the pain he had experienced earlier. Though what exhausted his brain more were the questions, some were forgotten the moment they arrived others waited patiently to be answered while some roared now and then in his brain and raced to his lips though with a long gulp down his throat he kept drowning the words into the pits of his stomach. By now his mouth was quite dry. Finally, starting low, he asked "why does she wants to oppose you now?" Charlotte sighed and said "It only makes sense doesn't it. Even though I lost that time but she couldn't defeat me. After finally getting promoted, I hopped out to the old house but Belladonna stayed there to specialize in spy technology while Luzandra..." and her voice faded as she looked at Belladonna who said " I don't know. She was probably given this mission and left soon after you did. But other than that I don't know much, I just saw her once after you left. She never was my closest friend really..." she added the last line silently.
"What exactly are you supposed to do in these missions?" Said David greatly aggitated now. But something about this aggitation triggered something in the others. They all suddenly seemed alot more alert. It was as if they thought David was about to make some plan again and for the moment being David himself liked to believe that he was making some plan(he still did not fully know how to tap into his powers). Quickly Charlotte said " we were supposed to get information, any bit of it regarding this zogger-bite or just our lost loved ones."
"Do you have to say that again and again" Peter came with a little uncomfortable expression which David had never caught on his face before. All of a sudden the answer came striking  the walls of his brain - PETER'S AUNT. David couldn't believe how he never thought of this before. Ofcourse his aunt was also among the ones who got lost. He had never really asked Peter about his aunt but a twinkle in his eyes showed that she must be lovely. Belladonna probably sensed it too (and more clearly than the others) as she said "Don't worry Pete. I'm sure we'll get them back. My brother went missing as well eventhough he was younger than me!" David and Peter looked at her, eyes wide open while Charlotte looked deep in thoughts or, David thought, she looked forward to her fight. Whatever it was it triggered a question in David's mind "Cherry what was that thing about the warning?"
At this even Belladonna looked eagerly at Charlotte. Sighing Charlotte said, " remember when I heard people shouting... it was them Luzandra, Zhat and Cien. They warned me about the diamond." 
"Cien!" Exclaimed Peter " Cien Victor?" "Yeah,you know him?"questioned Belladonna. 
"No but ... I" Peter started looking extremely surprised at his own exclamation, "I kind of heard his name while I was being deported from the spotlight room." David thought hard on this while Charlotte said more to herself than to others " How on earth did we landed to the spotlight room?" All of them fell silent at this and it seemed David that all the others was putting effort as hard at this as though they were dead, "although" he murmured to himself " dead people may not think at all." He had no intention to be funny however the line felt very ironically relatable in this situation(and brought a slight smile on David's face). Finally David said " Technically she wants to fight you so you lose for real this time and she can get her ... revenge" he finally came up with it when he could find no other word. But before anything further could be said a shout almost erupted from Charlotte as she said with a furious look on her face " IF I lose, excuse me what do you mean by so you lose." David suddenly lost words and jumbled them up saying "I did-no-didn't-maybe-I mean I didn't mean it." Then thinking of a good cover he quickly followed it up with " well you did say that she was more physical than you didn't you so I just thought that..." the moment he had said it, he knew it was a mistake as Charlotte's eyes narrowed. (he hadn't initially expected her right now to have the energy to be angry but from her previous shout David was sure to never make a firm decision about Charlotte through her current mood) glaring still, Charlotte said "Yes! I said she WAS." 
"Yeah" David came quickly nodding vigorously. Then he thought of making a puppy face but when he heard Belladonna's giggle he quickly dropped the idea.

Charlotte kept glaring at him so instead he focused his eyes on Peter and soon as his thoughts took the hind-seat, he noticed that Peter had sunk deep in some tornado of thoughts as well. He looked round at Belladonna who had an expression on her face which one wore when listening intently to someone and he was sure that she was understanding and making sense of every bit of the thoughts in Peter's head. He wondered,  (ignoring his annoyance at her) how her powers worked. Did she hear the person's voice in her head or did it work like echo-location which she had clearly cleared that it was not the case. Bringing his thoughts back to the present senario (partly scared BB might sense them as well) he was just about to say something but that something was never heard as a huge firework exploded, drowning David's voice. The fireworks touched the sky and made a red Amorphallus Titanum- signalling 'poison war' (atleast according to Belladonna)  they all looked at Charlotte, David expected her to be overwhelmed with emotions or to be hurt atleast scared but for the first time she looked like a true warrior to David and ( from the looks of him) Peter. Belladonna though seemed slightly used-to of that expression.
