It was then when David met the most optimistic man in his life. As he the rather talkative companion of David was being given the tour ; David realized that old age was troublesome. As their conversation grew Mr.Steve got fond of the child.
He said "you must be wondering what a freaky old man I am ... well that is me" David looked at Mr. Steve with a pinch of surprise in his eyes .
He(Mr. Steve) nodded and smiledSomething in the form of pure affection did a round between the 2. As if days were gonna pass on much pleasantly in the old house than ever expected ( by David)
After observing some silence David asked " so how many children do you have."
"Shan't you be asking about grandchildren" Mr. Steve said with a spark in his."
"Well-"
"Well then listen." Mr. Steve said while taking a seat on the bench in the garden (where the tour had reached)" I have 2 children. 1 daughter and 1 son. My daughter was an agent & my son had joined the army. Then my daughter she... she disappeared ( his voice slightly broke). No-one knows where she went. The last I heard from her was that she was taking refuge in some-one's house- a woman. Soon my wife died and so my son brought me to live with him so he could take care of me as If I was a 2 year old but partly to get rid of his loneliness after his sister's disappearance ( he broke into a talkative silence and then continued) huh! They were pretty close you know.""Well not very much dont really have any siblings you know" David said trying to reduce Mr. Steve's increasing tensity.
Mr. Steve chuckled and patted David on the back.
David saw pain in his eyes and almost forcing back his words the question still came out in bewilderment " did your son not treat you well"
"No... wha- no he loves me but man soooooooooooooooooo many restrictions ; dont use too much sugar, dont eat too much junk food, go for a long walk , dont watch television for very long ...man what not! And so to get rid of it all I asked him to start a family already. Luckily my prayers were answered and he married. I have a grandson now who is about your age. Hmmm! Now I am old and he has a long life in front of him(wisdom just poured in this sentence of his)""So?"
"So I insisted to live in an old house. Here I am." He said raising his hands in the air.--------------------------------------
The rest of the tour was covered in silence. David was astonished and much ammused at Mr. Steve's decision of moving to an old house. He thought all the people in the old house were forced to live there. Among this jungle of thoughts an exciting one suddenly came roaring in as he look forward to a visit by Mr. Steve's son and suddenly there came a rush of adrenaline as he realised the number of chances there were of him meeting a person of his own age( he only had 2 best friends who lived in his neighborhood but both had shifted from the environ many years ago- since then he had not come across anyone who was happily stuck in teens like him)
Soon the tour was over and Mr. Steve was shown his room by David. For the rest of the day David was kept busy with chores like cleaning dishes etc ( which he did to keep him busy + it was necessary to keep things hygienic for the people he loved so much) time went on and darkness crawled upon the horizon and so, tired, David went to his bed which was actually a thin carpet whose ends were tied to 2 wooden pillars.
