Waking up

Jack got up and got dressed. Emilia did the same as the blanket was moved so she felt cold. Jack put a log on the fire. They both grabbed some stew taking more meager portions now that they were running low on stew. Jack made coffee. Jack couldn't help but notice Emilia was smiling at him. He stopped eating and looked at her. [Jack: What? What is it?] She giggled and blushed which in turn made Jack blush. His cheeks felt warm but random shivers went through the rest of his body. Jack swiped his pipe and tobacco off the table and walked outside Emilia lit his pipe without him asking. She still had a stupid grin on her face but Jack realized he too had the same stupid grin. The finished breakfast and Jack announced what they were going to do. [Jack: Ok we need to pack everything up, then leave for the mansion] [Emilia: Ok] Emilia calmly poured the rest of the stew in a ceramic pot. Jack nailed two pieces of rope onto the sled turning it into a backpack then he rolled up two blankets with clothes and tied them to it. He slipped a shovel and an axe between the ropes. Jack then put bottles, bars of soap, the stew and other items in the rolled up blankets that were tied tightly to the sled backpack. He held the sword in his right hand and an unlit lantern in his left. Emilia carried a bundle of kindling and some vegetables they could scavenge. Both of them wore two cloakes. They went to Sebastian's house and took him and his son on their journey giving them time to pack. They walked for about half an hour. Jack saw movement in the woods which reasonably made both of them paranoid. They kept walking till they nearly ran into a crowd of people. These people immediately raised there weapons. Jack raised his sword while Emilia created ice crystals. [Man: Wait, who are you...?] [Jack: This is Emilia, I am Jack, this is Sebastian and this is...] [Sebastian: this is my son Tacito, he doesn't talk much] [Man: sorry for the hostile greeting. We've been constantly attacked by Mabeasts and the great rabbit . I thought that girl with you could've been a witch though I say that without malice M'lady] [Emilia: It's a common misconception usually people run or yell at me for it] [Man: I am Deven welcome to our camp as our town was attacked by the great rabbit] Jack looked around it was a makeshift camp fire in the middle tents and lean tubes. Also there were guards with pitchforks. It was a camp of mostly Demihumans Jack noticed even Deven even had cow horns. [Emilia: The barrier has been broken! You can leave this place and stay at the mansion till your homes are rebuilt!] All the townspeople looked at her in shock then they cheered. Jack had heard Emilia tell stories of people hating her for looking like the witch Satella so this was satisfying to watch. Amidst the cheering and people packing their things Jack noticed movement in the distance. The guards noticed it two. It was a huge, massive blob of white in the distance; it looked like it could be an avalanche. But as it came closer it was realised that it was a massive hoard of rabbits the Great Rabbit had arrived. People ran in panic grabbing belongings and children making a mad dash in the opposite direction. Jack remembered his mission was to help as many people out of the sanctuary alive, it wasn't to live a happy life with Emilia at the mansion though that was his original plan. Jack took off his backpack and Deven picked it up. Jack stood guard. Four guards willing to make the ultimate sacrifice stood with him. [Emilia: Let's go!] [Jack: Devin take Emilia with you] Devin yanked Emilia by the wrist but she wouldn't budge. [Deven: but she won't go] Emilia was screaming and arguing but to Jack it just turned to white noise. [Jack: Pick her up then] Deven picked up Emilia and threw her over his shoulder, it looked like a kidnapping the way she kicked, fought and screamed. The fastest rabbits of the hoard started to arrive. A few simple stabs with pitchforks and a sword stopped them dead in their tracks. More arrived but the five of them could keep up with the pace. But as more arrived, Jack couldn't keep up; he tried to jump back to avoid them biting his feet. But the rabbits latched on anyway. As soon as he dealt with the first few, twice as many took their place. The ground was flooding with rabbits. Jack ignored his pain and stabbed some of the rabbits on the other guard then tapped him on the shoulder [Jack:Go! Go!] The man ran. Two others abandoned the post as well but the fourth man was engulfed in a wave of rabbits. Jack was trying to stab so quickly. Rabbits were everywhere on him like ants biting all over. Jack kept stabbing. He winced in pain he felt a bruising pain in his thigh paired with stinging pain along with his sword stopping. Jack had stabbed himself in the thigh. The weight of the rabbits was starting to take a toll, he stumbled. [Jack: I don't want to die! I DON'T WANT TO DIE] he screamed crying. He pulled the sword out but fell to the floor as he pulled it out. He kept stabbing frantically. Pain was everywhere and frequent. He felt bits of his flesh get ripped off by dozens of small mouths. Jack kicked and screamed with tears flooding from his eye [I DON'T WANT TO DIE] he said in a primal shriek. A rabbit bit his tongue and he bit down on the rabbits head. He fought with every ounce trying to stop what was happening. The helplessness was infuriating and terrifying. His neck was being bitten into and he shrugged his shoulders but it was no use. Hair was being ripped off his head. He opened his eyes only to see a mouth then he went blind in that eye then with the other. Blood was gushing, arteries had been severed. Flesh was ripped off everywhere Jack felt like he was being skinned alive. Jack's stomach was quickly turned into a nest for the rabbits as they hollowed it out. More and more of Jack's body just disappeared. His body gave up but the frantic thoughts continued in his brain. Finally he saw purple.
