Josephine took off into the air, leaving nothing but a hot gust of wind for both men that stayed on the ground. The civilians were confused, but still ultimately grateful. Hawks turned to Dabi, who's face was now clear of all scars, his silver staples littering the ground. He looked almost unrecognizable if it weren't for his striking teal eyes and his raven hair, which was also fading a bit at the edges, leaving tints of red.

"Look at you, you clean up real nice," Hawks joked, earning a harsh glare from Dabi. "What? That's a compliment. I know you didn't get much of those but hey; you won't have a shortage of them now I assure you." Dabi rolled his eyes and looked up to the sky, his brow stitched with worry.

"Keep your mouth shut unless you want to get burned," Dabi threatened, his cerulean eyes narrowing sharply up at the clouds. "You need to go check up on Josephine. She's gotta be taking that hard. That chick used to be her friend after all," Dabi recollected, grinding his teeth at the absolutely heartbroken expression that was on her face. "She needs you."

"As much as I appreciate your self-sacrificing shtick, why can't you go find her yourself? Are you holding back again?" Dabi blinked a couple times at this, before looking at the man incredulously.

"I knew you were an idiot, but damn. This takes 'birdbrain' to a whole other level."

"What the fuck is that supposed to mean, hotshot?"

"It means that I can't fucking fly you Kentucky Fried piece of shit."

"
Oh, well, you don't need to. I gotcha," Hawks said with a cheeky grin, already scooping up the tall ravenette in his arms. Dabi immediately recoiled but Hawks held strong, adjusting his visor quickly. "Hold on just a second big guy, We are going to catch us a firebird." With ample protest from his villainous colleague, the pair shot up into the air, Dabi now forced to hold on to his partner begrudgingly.

They broke through the clouds, The sun just breaching the cloud-line. However, a bright light was seen ahead, the flicker of vibrant orange flames in the distance. "I found you~" Hawks chimed, beating his wings to quickly catch up. He was always faster than her, even in the sunlight. Not only that, but the woman was a bright beacon in the sky. How could he not find her?

When she was as bright as the north star, guiding the way?

He swept past the clouds, easily gaining on their retreating phoenix. Dabi's face was slowly turning green from the rough twists and turns Hawks pulled, and the more he did them, the more Dabi was convinced that Hawks was intentionally trying to get him to vomit. He scowled as another bout of nausea plagued him, and he pressed a glowing finger on to Hawks, grinning darkly as his skin began to smoke.

"Ah- AH What the fuck, Dabi?! Do you want me to drop you?"

Dabi snickered, blowing out the blue flame on the tip of his finger. "Nah. Just wanted to let you know that I get motion sick real easy."

"Then tell me you asshole!"

"But that doesn't make it satisfying," Dabi explained nonchalantly, closing his eyes. "You're the one that kidnapped me into the sky."

Hawks rolled his eyes, shaking his head. He didn't have the patience to deal with Dabi. Not when he was coming right up to Josephine.

He gritted his teeth and pushed forward, coming right up beside her. Josephine glanced towards the pair, her eyes widening in shock. Tears were spilling from her eyes, and she quickly wiped them away, sniffling. "What are you guys doing here," she spoke over the wind.

"Slow down so we can talk, Sunshine!" Hawks spoke loudly. She grimaced but conceded, slowing down so she was simply staying in one place, her wings casually keeping her afloat. "Hey dove, are you doing okay?"

"What does it look like, Hawks," she sniffled, her throat bobbing. "I killed someone from my past. I watched as she shattered into tiny bits of light and left me. I feel like I've somehow cheated death. That was supposed to be me. I was supposed to be Maven. I was supposed to bring upon this destruction. I was supposed to die. And yet I'm here. But why? Because I managed to luck out and escape? That's not fair. None of this was fair at all. She didn't... She didn't have to die. I didn't have to kill her. But I did." Dabi opened his mouth, stopping her tirade as his expression grew annoyed. But there was concern in those blue eyes.

"Alright, I've listened to this pity party enough. People die, doll," Dabi said quite gruffly, his eyes hard. "Sometimes it's easy, other times it fucks you up. But no matter what you gotta get back up because you've still got your life to live. So, live it. Don't cave in because it hurts. Fight it, let it fuel the reason that you live, or you'll crumble." She stared at him for a long time, breaking eye contact only to blink every now and then. Her auburn hair whipped around her face, her golden-hazel eyes shimmering with understanding.

She raised her hand to her heart which was still stained with blood, and she breathed a laugh. "What I want to do with my life..." She closed her eyes and clenched her fist, her frame straightening. Her smile was sad, but it was resolute. She was going to heal. The sight of it couldn't have been any more reassuring. "I know what I want to do."

"And I hope I have both of you to help me."
