I gasped as I came up to the property, my eyes glowing with wonder. I held on to my suitcase tightly and placed my hand on my chest. The view took my breath away.

The sun was cast down on the shimmering lake, enhancing its vibrant turquoise. The birds twittered and sang in the late morning air, different colours of blue, green, and yellow darting to and fro. The cherry trees bent in the wind and scattered the blossoms in the air, spiraling up into the clear sky. Around the lake and the cottage itself were explosive hues of tulips, hyacinths, and roses, and other flowers I couldn't name. I took in a deep breath and smelled the clean, fresh and floral-scented air.

The wind blew past me and whipped my hair around, cherry blossoms caressing my cheek. I turned around to face Dabi with bright eyes and a big smile. A calm and happy expression passed over his face as he looked me over, before also gazing out at the scenery. Beautiful didn't do this place the justice it deserved.

"The email was so, so wrong," I whispered as I looked around, enamored with the environment I was in. Already I could feel the shattered bits of my heart being swept away into the crisp breeze. I laughed and spun around with my arms wide open, the petals flying up and dancing around me daintily. Dabi sighed and picked up my luggage, trudging towards the door of the cottage.

"Come on Disney Princess, time to get settled in," he teased, and I pouted, taking one last look at the lake before I followed him inside. I had seven days; I could look at that lake all I wanted during that time. We opened the door and revealed a spacious living space. There was an unlit fireplace to the left, with red rugs and loveseats seated beside it. Books were laid out across the coffee table as entertainment. I took my luggage from Dabi and rolled it into a room with a bed neatly set up. The number of pillows alone caused hearts to blossom from my eyes. It was truly a paradise.

"Doll, come here a minute," Dabi called, and I hummed before I skipped down the hall. Dabi stood there with his arms crossed, his face holding a serious expression. My face fell as I took him in, suddenly very skeptical.

He better not be planning on ruining my trip, I thought to myself. "What's up Sapphire?" I asked, and he blinked at the name before he settled on the armrest of the loveseat, his eyes staring directly into mine.

"We need to set some ground rules," he began, and I groaned, leaning my head back as I looked up to the ceiling. "It's not as bad as it sounds, I just wanna make sure we have a good a time as possible, you hear?" He asked, and I nodded my head. A soft smile tugged at the corner of his lips before he began. "Alright. First things first, absolutely no phones," he stole my phone from my hands and I cried as he did so. He went through my contacts and quickly added something in there before he pocketed my device. Now I was crossing my arms, a pout forming on my face.

"Another thing is that we need to do is set boundaries. I don't wanna hear anything about me becoming a hero. Do that, and I won't bring up Kentucky Fried Chicken Jerk, okay?" I giggled at that. That name was new.

"Alright, I accept these terms and conditions. Anything else, Master?" I sarcastically asked, crossing my arm over my abdomen and bowing. Dabi scoffed at that, shaking his head.

"The only other thing I want is for you to smile once a day, understood?" He pointed a finger at me, and I could feel the heat on my cheeks bubble up. I nodded hurriedly. He smiled at me before he came up and ruffled my hair. "Good, now go get your bathing suit; we're going in that lake."

~~ Day 1: Swimming ~~

Red red red. I certainly liked my themes, huh. It was a two-piece that had lovely frills and layers, even though I didn't need the extra help. I braided my hair and brought it around my shoulders, and I smiled at my appearance. I tightened the laces on both pieces to make sure that they wouldn't come undone, before I nodded in satisfaction. I took a towel from a dresser and headed out on my way.

Before I even got outside I saw Dabi relaxing on the shore of the beach, the sun beating down on him. He had risen his hand to protect himself from the sun's glare. I walked towards him silently, slowly creeping up on him until eventually I was hovering over top of him. I bent forward to peer at him, and when he noticed that the sun had disappeared he removed his arm, only to find me staring right at him. His blue eyes widened as he stared at me, and I watched as he fought hard to keep his eyes on my face.

"You look... amazing," he breathed, and I flushed a brilliant scarlet. I backed away from him and crossed my arms over my stomach, suddenly very self-conscious of what I was wearing. Kinda stupid of me, should've just worn a simple one piece. However, I dug my own grave, and now I had to live with the consequences. How did that saying go? Play stupid games, win stupid prizes, right? I sighed and moved my arms to my hips, and watched as Dabi slowly stood up tall. He languidly wandered towards me until he stopped, and I could feel his body heat emanating. Even is scent was intoxicating to a firebird like me, which held smoke and ash with undertones of lavender. And, there was just no way he was hiding that body underneath those clothes. I couldn't even begin to describe him.

And this boy thought I looked amazing. Get this man a vibe check!

I blinked and I was in his arms, and he was holding me tightly. His thumbs had gently dragged across my back, and I felt my breathing hitch as he buried his nose into my hair. My heart was beating wildly, pulsing flames into my limbs. Dabi shifted slightly, his hands moving lower. My eyes widened as I realised what was happening. "Wait, Dabi-"

He suddenly dipped down and hoisted me up on to his shoulder like a fireman, and I squealed. I flailed but to no avail, and he effortlessly tossed me into the lake, splashing water everywhere. I quickly breached the surface and shuddered, looking at Dabi. I slowly stood up out of the water and shivered, glaring at him. "Come on, go swimming," he urged, before plunging into the water in my direction, a mischievous glint in his sapphire eyes. His arms had wrapped around my waist, and he pulled me under while I kicked and screamed. Once we were truly under, he had unwrapped himself from my waist and hovered above me. I was flushed, completely and utterly red all over my body under his watchful gaze.

He grinned and wrapped me in his arms tightly around me before kicking to the surface. He whipped his hair to the side and grinned widely at me, completely satisfied in what he had accomplished. His eyes trailed down from my face and landed on the left side of my chest, which was not only littered with scars but had a coloured tattoo of a phoenix with its wings opened. There were also two feathers on either side of the phoenix, but one of the feathers had faded into obscurity. He quirked his eyebrow as his curiousity grew.

"What's that tattoo?" He asked, and I blinked before I looked down. Oh, I had forgotten. I beamed up at him and gingerly touched my chest, admiring the marking.

"I was born with it. Neither of my parents had this mark, so my Quirk was something that neither of them could prepare for," I explained, and my brow furrowed as old memories surfaced of my mother. I covered the marking and sucked in a steadying breath, before gifting Dabi a warm smile.

He tilted his head and shuffled over my hand, and gently grazed the feathers, and his touch lingered on the faded one. "And these? What do they represent?" I was completely flustered with his forwardness, so I stammered out the truth almost instantly.

"T-Those are my lives," I spoke quickly, and his eyes widened. I slid his hand off of my chest and began to kick away, not thinking too much about it.

"... Why is one of them faded?" He asked quietly. I slid my eyes to him, completely stone-faced. He knew the answer, and yet wanted me to confirm it.

"I died when I was younger," I replied easily.

She... Died?

It was a deliberate decision to not disclose my history with people, but since Dabi asked, I decided to humour him. Whether he believed me or not was up to him.

I smoothly kicked away and dived under savouring the cool water and resurfacing to leisurely front crawl. Meanwhile, Dabi continued to tread water, his face pale as he looked at the girl. Realising he knew absolutely nothing about what she went through as a child, about her past. And the way she had described her Quirk, Phoenix, as though it was just something she called it. It was legitimately her Quirk. She had kept so much a secret, but the biggest one so far was her hidden mortality.
