Chapter Seventeen

When all I remember is talking is cheap and your lies were expensive

And god only knows when I'll come to my senses

Now I can't breathe at all

Nearly a month passed in the blink of an eye.

Well I guess it really wasn't in the blink of an eye.

It was actually excruciatingly slow, but I would've preferred it to pass quicker.

For that month though, Niall and I pretended that everything was okay. We were still mending ourselves, but we were also dealing with the kids.

A.J. had gone back to school. Sadly to the same one as before, mainly due to the fact he refused to let us move him.

The bullying seemed to have stopped though.

Things were somewhat starting to look up here, well if you looked past the whole me being accused of raping Ashton thing.

The cops seemed to have backed off.

Ashton hadn't.

He was always where Niall and I were, smiling as he watched us.

Most days we didn't even leave the house.

It was almost like we were dealing with Jimmy all over again.

And that was a hell I didn't want to repeat.

"Daddy. Daddy. Daddy. Daddy." Was the first thing I heard that Saturday morning. Jemma was poking at my face while I flinched away. I wanted to sleep.

Was that too much to ask?

"Good morning to you too princess." I grumbled, blinking open my eyes before sitting up. Jonah was next to her, his hand holding hers so he wouldn't get lost in the room.

"Mummy sick." Jemma said, pointing towards the door that led to the bathroom. It was closed but I could still hear the sound of Niall puking. I sighed as I rubbed a hand over my face.

"Alright... Let's leave your mum alone for a few minutes... I'll make you guys some breakfast." I said, standing up from the bed before picking both the twins up, one on either hip.

"Pancakes?" Jonah asked, leaning his head into my shoulder as I walked them out of the bathroom.

"If that's what you want."

"With chocolate?" Jemma chimed in, clapping her hands excitedly as I walked out of the bathroom. The twins talked excitedly for the next minute or so as I walked into the kitchen. I set them both down at the table before heading to the pantry to grab what I needed to.

"Dad... What are you doing?" A.J. walked in a few minutes later, his hair sticking up in random places and his eyes still heavy with sleep.

"Daddy make pancakes." Jemma said proudly, smiling as she stood up in her chair. Jonah was smiling too, but remained seated.

"Why?" A.J. asked as he sat down next to Jemma. Jemma quickly threw her arms around A.J.'s neck, giving him a kiss on the cheek. A.J. rolled his eyes before wiping his cheek.

"Jonah wanted pancakes." I answered, pouring the batter on the pan.

"You never make pancakes when I want them."

"I made you pancakes last week A.J. "

"No you didn't." A.J. grumbled while I gave a long sigh.

"Yes I did. I make you pancakes when you want them."

"You always give him extra attention. He always gets what he wants." A.J.'s voice was quiet, almost as if he didn't want me to hear what he was saying.

"Alexander." I said his name warningly as I turned to face them all again. A.J. just glared at me, something I was quite used to nowadays. I sighed before turning off the stove, taking the plate of finished pancakes and putting it on the table.

"Harry! Can you come here for a second?!" Niall shouted from upstairs.

"Watch your siblings." I said to A.J. who just shrugged. I made a mental note to talk to him about why he was so pissy with me later. I walked upstairs quickly, finding Niall standing in the bathroom with a frown.

"You okay?" I asked as soon I got close.

"I need you to run to the convince store..." He said, turning to look at me. I arched an eyebrow as he did this.

Why would I need to run to the convince store?

"Why?"

"Because I need you to grab something for me..." Niall said, making hand gestures as he tried to imply something. I rolled my eyes at that.

What the hell was he trying to imply?

"Once again I have to ask why." I sighed.

"Remember how you forgot to wear a condom?"

And then it dawned on me.

"Shit."

"Yes. Shit. Now I need you to run to the convince store and get a pregnancy test..." he said slowly, gesturing with his hands again. I nodded slowly, biting on my bottom lip.

"You really think..." I trailed off, starting to play with my hands as I stared at him. It was suddenly becoming hard to breathe.

A baby was the last thing we needed right now.

We were already stressed to the max.

God I think I'm going to puke.

F uck.

"I don't know Harry... I just... There's a big chance that I am and I would rather know than not." Niall sighed, running a hand through his hair. I nodded again, the need to puke still almost overwhelming.

"I think I'm going to be sick." I whispered, closing my eyes as I took a deep breath.

"Just don't puke on my shoes." Niall gave a nervous chuckle.

"No promises." I answered honestly.

"It's gonna be okay Haz."

"I really hope you're right."
