Chapter Thirty-Two
So a day when you've lost yourself completely
Could be a night when your life ends
Such a heart that will lead you to deceiving
"What this Daddy?" Jemma asked later that day. I was in the middle of making dinner, not really paying attention to what Jemma was doing. Niall was upstairs giving Jonah a bath which probably was going to have to happen again after dinner.
He liked baths though so we didn't really deny him.
Audrey was also in the kitchen with me, sitting in her high chair as she played with one of her many toys. A.J. was doing his homework in the living room, still refusing to talk to me. Niall had talked to him earlier and just told me not to worry about it.
I was worried though.
He was mad at me.
"Daddy." Jemma said again, making me turn around with arched eyebrows.
"What Jemma?"
"What this?" She held up a piece of paper that held a picture. I visibly paled when I saw it was the sonogram we had printed off when we'd found out about the second set of twins.
"It's nothing Jemma. Let me see it." I said, walking over to the table and grabbing the picture out of her hand. Jemma pouted but said nothing more as she sat down. Audrey let out a string of giggles as she dropped her toy on the ground for what was probably the millionth time. I sighed as I picked it up for her, placing it back on the high chair. This went on for about another ten minutes, Jemma pouting quietly and Audrey dropping her toy. Niall came and saved me though, a freshly bathed Jonah in his arms. He set Jonah next to Jemma who stopped pouting and started to quietly talk to her brother. Audrey watched the two of them curiously, now biting at her toy instead of throwing it. Niall wrapped his arms around my waist, ducking underneath one of my arms to see what I was making for dinner.
"We're gonna have to tell them." I said quietly, looking at the kids quickly. Niall looked at me with confusion.
"Tell them what?" He asked, stepping away from me for a second.
"About the new additions. Jemma found the sonogram." Realization came over Niall's face, his smile becoming tight as he nodded.
"I guess we can talk to them during dinner." He whispered, looking at the kids. Jemma was tracing Jonah's hand, still quietly talking to her brother much like she always did. A.J. had joined them now, sitting at the table with a bored expression as he watched Audrey play with her toy. I kissed Niall on his cheek before going back to making dinner. He went over to the table before sitting between A.J. and Jemma. It didn't take much longer to finish dinner, placing it onto the table. Niall helped me dish it out, and we all ate in a comfortable silence for a little while. It was Niall who started the conversation, placing his fork down and looking at me.
"Kids... You daddy and I have something we need to tell you..." He said slowly, his voice shaking a little. I didn't get why he was so scared.
It wasn't like we were telling the whole world.
But then again... our kids are our world. Two sets of blue eyes and a set of green looked at us curiously, I say three because Jonah wasn't looking in the right direction. His eyes were actually casted downwards towards his lap. Niall took a deep breath before grabbing my hand underneath the table, gripping it tightly as if it would help keep him calm and collected. They waited for us to say something, but honestly Niall was frozen on the spot. I sighed before grabbing out the sonogram, placing it face up on the table so all could see.
"What is that?" A.J. asked, looking at the picture curiously. Jemma moved closer to A.J., doing everything except climbing onto his lap to see the picture.
"That's a picture of your new siblings." I said, watching their reactions. Jemma's face remind confused, but A.J.'s face fell just a little.
"Again?" He whispered, looking up from the picture and making eye contact with me.
"I do not get it." Jemma said before I got a chance to answer A.J.
He stopped looking at me the second she spoke, his eyes casted down towards his lap as he played with his hands.
"Well you see sweetheart, Mummy wasn't feeling good for a little while and when we went to the doctor we found out that you have two new siblings." Niall smiled at Jemma, his eyes flicking towards A.J. for just a second. The six year didn't look up and he didn't say a word.
"Oh. Where they? I do not see them." She looked around curiously, ducking her head underneath the table as if they would be hiding under there.
"They're not here yet princess. We have to wait for a few months." Niall chuckled, looking underneath the table. Jemma sat back up, a confused expression on her face.
"Why?" She tilted her head to the side, pursing her lips as she tried to figure out what exactly we were saying.
"Because they're not ready to come home yet."
"Oh." She nodded, a smile now on her face.
"Can I be excused?" A.J. finally whispered, but he still refused to look at us.
"Wh-" Niall started but A.J. had already left the table.
"Alexander..." I called after him but he continued to walk away. Niall started to get up but I stopped him.
"I got this." I said quietly, standing up to go talk to the six year old boy.
And something told me it wasn't going to be easy.

This totally didn't take all day to write.
Nope. Not at all.
Anyways, there's been a lot of questions concerning the A.J. spinoff and when it's going to be posted. I won't be posting it until this story is finished.
I feel like if I post it now I'm not going to give it the amount of attention I want to give it. Hopefully that makes sense.
Anyways. There's still a few hours to submit oneshots/fanart, big thank you to those who've already submitted their entires, they've all been amazing :)
So yeah.
Thank you guys for nearly 8k on this story, it still astonishes me how much you guys love this story.
