Since LJ is an 'imaginary' friend, he can't be seen in pictures. He's like a vampire in the sense he can't be photographed, although he still has a reflection which can be photographed. For example if a picture of him was taken with a puddle or mirror next to him, you'd see his reflection in the puddle or mirror but not actually see him in the picture.
