"Noah, Jayden, come on!" I called. They hadn't gotten up from the blanket to join Jules and I in the water yet. I saw Noah quickly say something to Jayden before they stood up and ran over.
"Is it cold?" Jayden asked. I shrugged.
"A little. You get used to it."
"Ok, let's get this over with," Noah said before running right into a wave. I let out a little squeal as the wave exploded into the air.
"Well done," Jules clapped. She then looked over to the beach. "Don't look now," she said quietly. "But there's a very attractive male specimen over there."
"Oh god," I muttered. I didn't want to upset Noah by looking, so I pretended to adjust my bathing suit bottoms. I could see Jayden subtly turning toward the beach from the corner of my eye.
"Oh my god," she said quietly. "He's coming over here."
     "Shut up," Jules whispered.
"Davina?" a voice said. I looked up from my bathing suit and my eyes were drawn to a necklace with a black crystal attached.
"Oh, Parker," I said shocked. "I didn't know you- I thought- what are you doing here?"
"Change of plans," he shrugged. "Totally forgot you were coming here, sorry for seeming like a stalker."
     "No, don't worry," I lied.
"Dovie," Jules prompted me to introduce her.
"Oh, sorry, this is Parker. His mom's dating my dad. Parker, this is Jules, Jayden, and...Noah." Oh god, I forgot they would have to meet now.
"Hey," he smiled. He couldn't take his eyes off of Noah. "You're from... A Quiet Place."
"Yeah," he nodded smiling but embarrassed.
"Scary ass movie," Parker chuckled. "Well, I don't wanna intrude." He started walking away when Jules did something awful.
"Wait!" she exclaimed causing him to stop in his tracks. "You can hang out with us if you want." She's lucky I didn't strangle her on the spot. He looked over to me, almost knowing I didn't want him there.
"Yeah," I said. "Unless you're hanging out with Jacey or something."
"She actually brought a friend with her, so..."
"Then hang out with us," Jayden smiled. Parker looked back toward the sand before looking at me one more time.
"Ok," he shrugged. "Thanks." I looked over to Jules whose eyes were scanning Parker. Considering he was only wearing swim trunks, this was incredibly uncomfortable. I then looked over to Noah who was biting his lip nervously. Oh god.

Luckily, Parker fit in pretty well. He quickly got to know Jules and Jayden and they seemed to love him. They probably just loved his bleached-tip hair and freckled tan skin...Oh who am I kidding? Parker is a great guy. I didn't dare show an ounce of proof that I thought that, though. We swam around in the water for a little while before we all got tired and went back to our blanket. Jules was eager to tell Parker he could stay.
"Dovie, do you need a towel?" Jayden asked as she pulled one out of Jules' large bag.
"I'm good," I answered as I reached into mine and grabbed my light pink towel.
"Noah? Parker?" she asked.
"I'm set as well." He wrapped his around his shoulders.
"I have one by my stuff," Parker said and stood up. "Be right back." Jules and Jayden watched as he ran toward his stuff. Once he was far enough that he couldn't hear, Jules swung her head to me.
"Oh my god," she whispered. "He is HOT."
"Jules," Jayden laughed.
"Just saying," she shrugged. "You're lucky to be able to spend the weekend with him." Jules. Shut up. It didn't take her long to realize the mistake in her comment. I saw her quickly look to Noah before looking back to me. I tried my best to keep my eyes on her and stay casual.
"He's my dad's girlfriend's son," I chuckled. "Definitely not someone I wanna get involved with."
"Yeah, true," Jules nodded.
"But feel free to make a move if you want." She smiled gently, indicating that she was considering it. I know it's selfish and unreasonable, but I hoped she wouldn't. A second later, Parker came running back with his towel. He sat down next to Jules and I saw that their bare knees were just barely touching.
"So Davina, excited for this weekend?" he asked.
"Very," I nodded.
"Your dad said we can take his boat out to see fireworks."
"Oh thank god, I was too scared to ask," I laughed. "I thought he'd be too busy with a party."
"Yeah, I think he's having people over, but he said we could take you and I could boat out." Like just the two of us?
"Oh, so like all the kids," I said. "Like Lily-Rose, Jack, and Jacey too."
"Oh, I mean, yeah, I guess." He meant just the two of us. Noah seemed to realize this too because he moved his arm so that it was wrapped around my back and placed his hand on my knee. Parker's eyes quickly darted down to follow Noah's movements before looking back to my face. In that moment, my mind went a little fuzzy, but I could've sworn I saw him nod subtly to acknowledge the hint.

Parker went back to hang out with his mom and sister around half an hour later. Jayden, Jules, Noah and I stayed at the beach for a few hours longer until we all barely had enough energy to walk back to the car. Noah was relatively quiet after the whole Parker situation which absolutely sucks because it was our last day together.
I helped Jules put some stuff into her trunk before getting into the backseat. Noah immediately rested his head on my shoulder and exhaled.
     "Tired?" Jayden assumed.
"Yeah, something like that," he said quietly. Oh god, what does that mean? I turned my head slightly and whispered in his ear,
"You good?" He simply nodded his head.
